PRP releases growth factors that can help rejuvenate the skin causing healthier looking skin with a nice "glow" and possibly a little plumpness. You cannot fill lines or add significant volume with PRP alone. Even activated PRP (PRFM) will not give you the same fullness that a filler injection would. However, when we combine PRP with fillers, the presence of the filler will activate the PRP and act as a scaffold for your own collagen to form around. This is what we call a "Vampire Facelift." The PRP will allow less fillers to be used and will increase the longevity of the filler. The skin will improve much more than it would with the filler alone. This is one of my favorite treatments!
Thank you for your question. PRP stimulates your skin’s stem cells to produce more collagen and grow new cells. Combination of fillers and microblading will also help. I would advise you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon for a detailed examination to discuss all possible treatment options and what your expectations are.
Platelet rich plasma therapy or a vampire facial as it is popularly called nowadays, is a skin tightening procedure that uses the goodness of what our bodies have to offer with a tweak of science. What is PRP?Platelet rich plasma is a treatment that involves drawing blood from a patient, concentrating the platelets and administering it to the face and/or neck regions. What does it do?Platelet rich plasma therapy helps boost the production of both collagen and elastin which is essential to keep the skin tight, plump and youthful. Is PRP similar to fillers? No, while platelet rich plasma therapy helps in over all skin tightening and some anti-ageing effects. On the other hand, fillers are used to fill inanimate wrinkles and other hollow regions of the face like under eyes or deep acne scars. Can PRP substitute fillers?Since their uses are completely different, the answer is no. PRP cannot be substituted for dermal fillers.
Thank you for your message! PRP and dermal fillers work differently in an anti-aging regimen. Typically a combination of factors works best, though this may depend on what goal you are looking for! PRP injections and when used with microneedling can help boost collagen production to improve skin elasticity, texture, and over time improve the appearance of deeper hollows and fine lines. Dermal fillers, tend to be more instantly gratifying when it comes to providing volume to an area. I would recommend a consultation with a provider in your area for further evaluation.
Hi There, PRP can be used as fillers. The difference is how immediate you want the results and if you want some extra benefits. A Dermal filler like Juverderm or Restylane is used for quick volume correction, while PRP Filler creates longer-lasting improvements that may take some time to work. Unlike hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, PRP Fillers creates lasting improvements in the skin texture, hydration and even tone. If you want a bit of both worlds you can start with a combination of PRP Cosmetic with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane for quick volume correction.
PRP alone is not a replacement for volume, so NO, it is not a dermal filler. It CAN enhance the appearance of the skin a bit, and with multiple sessions, may improve some wrinkles.
PRP can be injected like a dermal filler. However, the PRP fills much differently. PRP stimulates your skin’s stem cells to produce more collagen, grow new cells, and give the face an all over rejuvenated look. It can take weeks to months to see a difference. With dermal fillers the results can be seen immediately and typically last 6-12 months until they are broken down by the body. PRP used in conjunction with dermal fillers is a great treatment for restoring volume because the patient gets the immediate result with the filler plus the added benefit of building natural collagen.
Thank you for your question. I agree with Dr. Sylwestrowicz. in our practice, we have been using PRFM(platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix), an activated form of PRP and have injected hundreds of patients with great results in rendering volume to the skin and facial planes normally treated with fillers. The results are slower but with patience, one could notice very impressive changes . But, do not expect immediate changes seen with fillers. Doctor Sclafani from Cornell University has published some interesting papers on the subject. All the Best to you
Platelet Rich Plasma will restore lost volume, give the skin elasticity and improve texture. You will never get the same volumizing effect as you would from a hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite dermal filler.A combination of the two techniques can also work well.
