I'm a 24-year-old guy, and after losing 100lbs and having waited 3 years I decided it was time to chop some skin. After hours of research I ended on Dr. Robbins because all I could find (except for on yelp for what it's worth) were only good reviews, along with him having multiple board certifications and many years of experience and tons of before/after pics on the website. While I will summarize it a bunch, I will describe pretty much my whole experience in detail to give a good idea of what awaits you and what I went through. Just for reference as of writing this, I'm 18 days PO. I had a tummy tuck without muscle repair with VASER lipo to remove gynecomastia and both went fantastic. before I get to that though, one thing I really want to note is you can get a consultation pretty close to when you schedule. I had 2 months wait with Dr. Robbins, while the one my GP recommended (who I found out was somewhat new in plastic surgery and I decided against) had about a 4 month wait just for consultation. Another top plastic surgeon in the state had almost a 5 month wait. As for consultation itself, pretty simple. I only waited in the lobby for about 2 minutes, and in the actual consultation room for about 5 minutes before a nurse came in, asked me medical questions, then left. Dr. Robbins came in just a few minutes later, examined the parts I wanted to operate on by looking at them, telling me how it may look and complimenting me on how I lost the weight without any help from bariatric surgery which was nice. I will say, one big green flag for me was that I was curious about thigh lifts, and wondered why he didn't have them on his website. So, I asked, and he said he did not feel comfortable doing something with such a high complication rate, and to me a plastic surgeon who makes his money off of operating, not wanting to do an operation that could make more money because he just does not like how risky it is (even if the complications are almost always minor), that tells me personally he wants the best for his patients. Pre-op was simple. Got a big packet of what to expect, things I need, measured for compression gear and so on. Got a cream to put on twice a day where the scars would be to help it heal. Otherwise, pre-op was not too eventful. Day of surgery: The day of I went into a room where I put on surgical clothing, we did before pics, and after meeting both the anesthesiologist and Dr. Robbins again I went to the surgery room, laid down on the operating bed (which is heated and feels nice) and a few seconds later waking up in a chair. It was very quick and simple. I was scheduled for 8AM, I was on my way home by 11AM. After surgery I'll be honest, I was in very minimal pain. The only pain I ever had was due to the drains, which I learned to hate so much. They pinch when getting up/sitting down, and only learned a few days in to not have your clothes laying over where the drain enters your body, it makes the pinching sooo much worse. As for the scar itself, gross sure but that's expected. Not that painful, just very numb and swollen. Also, be ready for an outie belly button for a while as it swells too. As for my chest, the VASER lipo made it extremely tender to the touch, but it was not that bad after a few days. After 4 days, I felt maybe 40% back. All you do for the first week is sit and do nothing. Don't eat anything that will bloat you as it is very uncomfortable with the compression gear and swelling. Day 6 I had my first post-op and drains were removed. After those things were gone I immediately jumped to maybe 70% back. I felt normal except for pulling along the scar if I tried standing straight. I would say by day 14 I felt 90% normal and by now (day 18 as of writing this) I feel 95% back to normal. My nipples are still fairly tender and numb but otherwise my chest is mostly healed. As for my stomach, swelling has slightly gone down but is still there. Even with swelling, my waist is almost 4 inches smaller than before surgery, and all my shirts feel so big. I actually feel comfortable in my body now, and it feels fantastic. Will update once I do my 2nd post-op middle of May to add how that goes. My experience was so good I'm tempted to one day get an arm lift too from Dr. Robbins, but I don't need another month of recovery so soon, maybe in the far future.
I’ve been thinking about getting a TT ever since my last child was born. I had an emergency c-section and ended up also having an emergency hysterectomy. It was a very traumatic experience but knowing that I was done having children made me more inclined to have this procedure. I did consult with several doctors but landed on Dr. Robbins due to his experience and multiple board certifications. I had an Abdominoplasty with lip of flanks. The day of surgery, the car ride home (2.5 hours) was terrifying. I felt my heart racing and I had to force myself to focus on my breathing (I was likely having a panic attack). The next day, I felt like I couldn’t breathe and went to the emergency room. Everything checked out fine. The day after, I went back again because I had another panic attack and was convinced that there was something seriously wrong. For the first week and a half, the panic attacks came and went. Nighttime was the worst, and I hardly slept. The one-week follow up appointment went really well - no issues and the drains came out without much pain. I followed up with my GP who prescribed some anxiety meds. I used them at nighttime and only for a couple of days. By 2 weeks the panic attacks had subsided and I felt like a totally different person. I’m now about 4 weeks out and feel great. There’s still some swelling around the incision site, and a couple of hard lumps on my side where he performed liposuction. I’m rotating between the binder and a couple different compression garments. I’m excited to see the results after the swelling and lumps dissipate, especially after that hellish first week and a half. Updated on 7 Jul 2023: Here are the official pics from the doctor’s office. I am so happy to be done with the binder! I’m still slightly concerned with the bulge between the bottom of my rib cage. I doubt it’s swelling at this point, so hopefully now that I can get back to working out it will go down a bit. I also still have some lumpiness on the one side - hoping it doesn’t turn into fibrosis. Things are still a bit tight when I straighten out but I’m sure as I get more active they’ll stretch back out. The scar is looking fantastic. No sign of necrosis.
After deciding I didn't like the bald look I first looked into Neograft with Dr Robbins about 6 years ago. He explained the procedure to me and I booked my first 2500 grafts. I was not sure what to expect but it was a long day. I remember on one of my early follow ups I told him I didn't think it was working. He assured me everything looked great and told me that the process of growing hair was like watching paint dry - only slower. He was right. Everything came in like it was supposed to. Fast forward 6 years and I notice when my hair was wet I was seeing more scalp on the top of my head than I wanted to so I booked a follow up appointment. Both he and the Neograft technicians agreed - basically what was on my head was the grafts put in 6 years earlier and most of the natural hair had simply fallen out. This time I booked the full 3000 graft session. My thought process was - if I was going to have a long day then let's put in the max possible. Please note when I say long day it is not that it is a painful day, you have to lay on your stomach in the morning as they remove the hair from the back of your head. The afternoon goes much faster and really no discomfort because he has two technicians placing the grafts up front. As usual his staff was awesome. Very friendly, helpful and caring. I can not recommend the procedure high enough. Over the past 6 years I have told a couple of barbers / hair stylists after my hair cut that I have had a Neograft. The reaction is always the same "no way!!", then they start to examine my head very closely and call over any colleagues in the area to check out my hair. They all say the same thing - if I had not told them they would have never had guessed.
My 50th birthday present was to have a mommy makeover! For years i had wanted to have the extra skin on my abdomen removed. No amount of exercise or dieting could undo the stretching of carrying 4 different babies. My breasts needed uplifting! I had 600cc implants with a lift when i was 33, then had them removed, but no further revision 15 years later. I wanted perkier breasts without the extra weight of implants.I am absolutely 100% delighted with my results! Recovery is no joke and one definitely will need to plan to take it very easy for at least a month after surgery. Get yourself a wedge pillow to elevate your head and plan to spend lots of time on the couch or in bed. Completely worth it!50 years of age, 5’1”, 165#As an incentive for posting a review, this reviewer received an entry into RealSelf’s monthly $500 gift card giveaway
I've been on cloud 9 since my breast augmentation recently. Dr. Robbins, his staff, his office, attention to detail and seamless surgery still has me highly impressed. The one thing I respect most about him is that because he's so experienced and triple board certified, he has the confidence to say no if a patient wants something that he knows isn't the best for them. That doesn't mean he isn't going to give you the results you want, it more so means he knows what he's talking about when you show your desired outcome and you can go some My recovery has been great and I'm so excited to see the final results once swelling goes down and recovery is officially over.
Dr. Robbins is very professional and ensures you're comfortable. He explains the procedure and risk thoroughly. He is very confident in his work. The staff is absolutely amazing as well! Tricia and Misty were absolutely amazing! The day I had surgery everyone was so helpful and made me feel at ease! Thank you all.
Such a great experience! I had a BA revision/Implant exchange on 10/09/2020. I had a BA done by a different surgeon in 08/2019 and the results were less than desirable. I had tenting and my right muscle was never released so my right breast was higher and more firm than my left. Dr Robbins went in and exchanged my implants with SCF450 and repaired the muscle in my right breast. My results show 11 days post op and they look soooo much better than my first surgery. Two days after my surgery I had to call the on call number to reach Dr Robbins as I had a lot of swelling in my cleavage, Dr Robbins literally called me back in less than 2 minutes and had me in the next day to tape me up to relieve some of the swelling. Dr Robbins is professional and listens to your concerns, his staff is amazing, and the facility is clean and comfortable. I highly recommend!!
Wonderful!! I originally went to TJ in 9/2017, spending approx $15k for a mommy makeover. Every incision was necrotic and less than 3 years later the implants (which weren’t the proper size) were rock hard. I had horrible scars. I finally got the courage to go see Dr Robbins for a revision. He was so kind and didn’t judge me for going out of the US. I didn’t bother getting any other consults or quotes. I researched and he is the most qualified surgeon I could find. He’s quadruple board certified which for me is a big deal. He does all of his own surgeries and everything from consult to surgery to all follow ups take place at the same location. That is great because he only does plastic and reconstructive surgery so that means I wasn’t exposed to any illnesses from other patients as I could’ve been in a hospital. My incisions/scars are all so thin!!! Not one single open area anywhere. The implants are the proper size and soft. I feel amazing and only 3 weeks post op. I wasn’t expecting that he’d be able to completely erase the botched job from Dr Irving Rodriguez but he did! I’m amazed and everyone around me is amazed. I’ve recommended him to anyone who asks. Most people around me and in the wound group on FB know me well and remember how horrible the wounds were that I had. Dr Robbins and his entire staff are friendly, attentive and never once made me feel rushed. I’ve been able to contact them via phone or text with questions...and all of this during a pandemic. My original surgery date was 3/31 but postponed due to COVID19 to 5/1. I went home the same day I had surgery and had to have my husband with me the first 24 hours. They provide detailed instructions for post op care, drains, etc. I wish I would’ve gone to him in the first place! Oh and he also did a posterior lift at the same time because I had a lot of excess skin on my backside.
The photo speaks for itself. After losing all my breast from kids and weight loss I hated my body. These babies are over a year old and I have never felt better! Dr Robbins took darn good care of me, making sure the job was done right. I am in love with me now, about time. Updated on 9 Apr 2019: I have got some messages wanting to see them with out clothing. Here is before and after 32A to 32DDD Updated on 9 Apr 2019: Let’s try again
I have wanted a breast augmentation for my entire adult life. I am now 58 years old and just thought I was to old to ever realize this dream. My husband was actually to one to help me realize it was not to late. I selected Dr. Robbins as my surgeon primarily through internet research. I could not have been happier. At the initial consultation I felt like there was no one more important at that time than me. They took a lot of time answering my questions, go over the procedure and discussing options for my surgery. I almost felt like they were as excited for me as I was for myself. The entire office staff was so kind and helpful. I felt like they realized this was a monumental decision (and opportunity) for me (at my age I had 1 shot at my life long dream) and there was no way they would let me be disappointed. I would love to name everyone who cared for me, but I didn't get the names of all the surgery staff (they were all amazing). In addition to Dr. Robbins ( who was wonderful), Rhea and Misty were my go to people. They were both so helpful, kind and friendly The day of surgery went without a hitch. I had little or no discomfort (at least that wasn't easily managed) and my recovery was textbook. I am so thrilled. My husband can't believe the change in how I see myself. Wish I had done it years ago. VASER uses ultrasound energy to break up fat and is a very efficient means of removing fat especially in areas where the fat may be more dense. Laser liposuction uses a laser to produce heat and laser energy to the fat. I primarily use it for small areas where there is a small amount of fat and mild skin laxity. The heat of the laser may give a tightening effect to the skin. David Robbins, MD, FACS
At 5 months the graft are just starting to grow. It takes at least 12 months for results and improves as these hairs grow normally. No need to worry. David Robbins, MD FACS
Thank you for the question. 3000 grafts are the most that we do in one setting. I normal head of hair with no thinning has over 50,000 hair follicles so in your case, 2500 would just add some density but you will not have complete coverage.
Thanks for the question. If you have loose skin and "bags" under the eyes then you would need to do a transcutaneous approach for removal of excess skin and fat. If you just have "bags" under the eyes and good skin tone, then a transconjunctival approach would be just fine. David Robbins, MD, FACS
Thanks for the question. An arm lift and breast lift can certainly be done at the same time. Best of luck. David Robbins, MD, FACS
