Not sure why i have a big clitoris or hanging looking lips when I'm not very sexual active. What can be done to reduce the size or appearance of the hanging. Will the procedure be safe to do? And what type doctors deals with this particular area of the body?
Answer: Labiaplasty and Hood Reduction And a large clitoris or Clitoromegaly is quite a challenging problem to correct. It is usually the result of androgen levels that are high which can be from taking testosterone or it can be from some other medical causes. Labia enlargement and clitoral hood size, however, are very easily addressed with a labiaplasty and hood reduction. Find an expert plastic surgeon who can help address the unique elements of your anatomy to get you the results that you’re seeking. Photos, videos and reviews are helpful and Realself should be a great resource for you. You are in the right place!

Answer: Labiaplasty Hello there, Thank you for your question.A labiaplasty +/- clitoral hood reduction can minimize the size of the labia and clitoral hood, if that is what bothers you. Some women are simply born with larger anatomy than others. It sounds like you may benefit from an evaluation with a Gynecologist, however, to determine if the clitoral itself is enlarged (as opposed to just the hood), as this can frequently be associated with medical conditions.Typically Cosmetic Gynecologists or Plastic Surgeons trained in labiaplasty would perform these procedures. Hope this helps! Sincerely,Jennifer Adams MD, FRCSC

Answer: Labiaplasty There is a wide variation of the shape and size of the female genitalia, and this can be genetic. Labiaplasty can reduce the prominence of the labia minora, as well as the clitoral hood. The procedure is considered safe, particularly when done by a board certified plastic surgeon or gynaecologis with experience in performing the labiaplasty procedure.

Answer: Large clitoris The question is whether you have a large clitoris or just a large clitoral hood. I need to see photos in order to make that determination. If you have extra tissue on your clitoral hood, it can be reduced. If your clitoral hood is thick, wide, and protuberant. It can be decreased somewhat by reducing the sides. I invented a clitoropexy with clitoral hood reduction in which the clitoris is pushed closer to the pubic bone and the width, thickness, length, and protuberance of the clitoral hood can be decreased. I have performed this procedure over 350 times with excellent results. I have not published this technique, so no one does it like me. No matter the technique, an inexperienced or unskilled surgeon can lead to a high rate of complications, chronic scar discomfort, labial deformities, and further surgery. If you truly have clitoris enlargement, a clitoral hood reduction will not resolve your issue. Instead it will make you worse if a clitoris reduction is not also done. A clitoropexy will not work, because your enlarged clitoris will pull out the sutures. Have you ever taken male hormones or had a hormone issue. You may want to see an endocrinologist to evaluate your hormone levels, but they are usually normal. Very few surgeons perform a clitoris reduction, since it is technically challenging and is rarely taught. It is an intricate procedure, since the sensory nerves have to be carefully preserved. I have done over 60 reductions without any loss of sensation or orgasmic ability. The clitoral reduction reduces the glans or head and also removes the erectile tissue in the shaft. After surgery, the clitoris will not stick out much or increase with arousal. The surgery is not very uncomfortable. It takes up to 3 1/2 hours and includes clitoral hood reduction. A labia minora reduction and/or labia majora reduction or enlargement can be done at the same time. As the inventor of the central wedge labiaplasty, I recommend this technique as it gives a very natural appearance. Gary J. Alter, M.D. Beverly Hills, CA - Manhattan, NY
