Lips done first time with Juvederm 0.55ml. Is this swelling normal? (Photo)

Swelling and bruising is common after lip injections and can take up to two weeks to resolve.  You can try using ice intermittently on the area and keeping your head elevated for the first few days to help minimize the swelling.

filler used to restore lost volume in and enhance the appearance of the face. Swelling is normal for 2 weeks after a treatment. At that time final results are seen. I recommend that my patients apply cold compresses such as ice packs and sleep on a extra pillow if possible to reduce swelling. Please

Thank you for your question. The reaction you are experiencing is completely normal and should be no cause for concern. Swelling and pain should dissipate after 2 weeks or so. Please follow up with your board certified plastic surgeon to assure proper healing. 

Yes, swelling of this degree is normal and wouldn't be concerned. I would elevate the head of bed and minimize headstands until the swelling is gone. If there is significant massage of the lips after the procedure, this can cause additional trauma and don't do this.

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photograph.  Sorry that you are having some concerns about your postprocedure appearance.  Swelling after treatment with Juvederm is common, especially when the lips are treated.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow for normal postprocedure swelling to fully resolve and to see your final result.  Icing is beneficial for up to 48 hours after the procedure.  Arnica is also helpful for minimizing normal postprocedure swelling and bruising.  If you continue to have any concerns at 2 weeks (final result), please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to determine the best course of action.  Hope this helps and best wishes!

The lips are a very sensitive area, and it's not uncommon to experience swelling for up to 2 weeks after any filler injections.  Sometimes this swelling can be uneven, and can make the lips appear lopsided or asymmetric.  It's difficult to assess what your final results will be until your swelling have fully subsided.  
For now, I would suggest gently applying ice or cool compresses to your lips.  Please follow-up with your injector if your swelling or tenderness persists, or if you have any concerns.  If necessary, Juvederm can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.  Best of luck!
