Unneeded turbinate outfracture and sub mucous resection. 4 months post

Question

I had a rhinoplasty to remove a hump on my nose, my nose was also a bit crooked due to prior fracture. When I went in for my consultation the doctor inquired about my breathing, breathing on my left was choked due to a valve collapse since my nose was deviating to my right. Anyway without being explained anything, I was scheduled for turbinoplasty. I'm miserable, my throat is chronically dry, nose feels empty. Too much air flow. Help, can Get turb infracture and reverse this nightmare I'm in ?

Hello. This is a tough problem to deal with. It is very difficult to infracture the turbinate and get back to where you were before in regards to airflow. However, with time, even aggressive septoplasties with turbinoplasties will revert somewhat to the original state after surgery. If after a year you're still dealing with this problem, I would go see an ENT for evaluation. In the meantime, you may have to use frequent nasal drops to keep your nasal mucosa nice and moist. Give it time.  Its still early days and you may simply be adjusting to your fully functioning nasal airway.
