Sculptra prepared a week before?

Question

I just got sculptra yesterday but the doctor I had gone to see did not do it. It was an other lady. I went to talk to him about sculptra and she ended up telling me she could do it yesterday. She said its prepared a week before? Isn't that bad? In the end I ended up paying 1700 for 3 vials that were on sale. after all that I got to thinking... why is it so cheap? Why is it prepared a week before? I did more research and the doctor is not a dermatologist. Please help I'm a bit scared.

Sculptra should be diluted at least 24 hours in advance in my opinion.  In my practice I dilute at least 72 hours in advance to avoid any risk of lump/nodules. If you're concerned, I recommend following up with your Doctor. Sculptra is a great product for improving facial volume and collagen building, but for best results, I recommend using it in a combination depending on desired results. I combine Sculptra with other fillers, lasers, toxins and skin care to give immediate results. See an expert. Don’t worry: We mix Sculptra ahead of time so that the product can dissolve and disperse to create a really lovely, uniform texture. It’s perfectly safe. However, sometimes a bargain isn’t worth it, especially when it’s your body or face. Please find a board-certified dermatologist who is very experienced with fillers to administer your Sculptra treatments so you can be assured of safety and good results.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Sculptra is a product that needs to be prepared 3-7 days prior to treatment in order to minimize the risk of nodule formation.  Be sure to do your tissue massaging but alert your injector to your concerns, they can best provide reassurance.

Optimal results from Sculptra are seen when the product has been reconstituted as long as 30 days prior to injection. It allows for smooth injection and even dispersal through the tissue. Always be diligent in researching your provider before treatment and be sure that they are credentialed appropriately.

Don't worry, Sculptra actually needs to sit after adding bacteriostatic water so that it has time to hydrate all the PLLC particles that stimulate the collagen.  Adding more volume and letting it sit longer is a good thing.  This reduces the risks for any unwanted side effects and in the end produces better results.  Don't forget to do your homework by massaging 5 times a day, for 5 minutes at a time, for 5 days.  This helps distribute the Sculptra evenly over the area.

Its actually good the Sculptra was mixed a week in advance. Sculptra needs time to hydrate for best results and to minimize potential side effects. We have learned over years of doing Sculptra that additional diluent volume and dilution time (longer and larger than listed in the original Sculptra Aesthetic product label) help to have the Sculptra spread uniformly for best results. The skill and experience of the treating physician is also critical with Sculptra.
