Sculptra is a localized treatment that stimulates the production of collagen. It shouldn’t get into your bloodstream nor should it interact with a blood thinner like Xarelto. You are probably worried about bruising and bleeding because of the blood thinning effect of Xarelto. Surprisingly, filler patients on Coumadin or Xarelto seem to have the same incidence of bruising as patients not on blood thinners. The most bruising I see occurs in patients on fish oil. That said, it is prudent to take extra precautions in any patient on blood thinners. We can use a blunt tipped cannula rather than a needle, injecting slowly, and exiting the skin carefully. Theses maneuvers decrease the risk of bruising. We also offer pulsed dye laser treatment at no charge within 72 hours of your filler for any bruise. This helps them go away much quicker. So go ahead and try Sculptra. It is a wonderful filler that can help you replace lost volume and sculpt more youthful curves in your face. Please find a board-certified dermatologist to perform your Sculptra rejuvenation and do remember to mention your use of Xarelto; it’s important that your doctor know about any medications you take.
