Can I wear a bikini 6 weeks after lipo & fat transfer if I cover the scars with bandaids & SPF?

I’m getting liposuction with fat transfer to hips on May 24th, I’m hoping to still enjoy some of my summer and go out by mid July. Will this be possible with spf and bandages over incisions?

In my experience, many patients are back to light social activities by 6 weeks after liposuction and fat transfer, but bikini exposure should depend on how your incisions have healed and your surgeon's restrictions. The scars should be fully closed, dry, and not irritated.
I would be very strict with sun protection: keep fresh scars covered with clothing or opaque tape, and use SPF around the area. Avoid swimming, tanning, or prolonged heat until your surgeon clears you.

Hi! Yes, you should definitely enjoy the summer. Scars fully heal and mature at about 1 year. I would definitely encourage you to use SPF and bandages over incisions. If not, the scars will heal in a different color then the remaining skin (usually more pink). Massage these scars whenever you think about them. Stimulating collagen is the best thing you can do for them. Hopefully your surgeon placed the incisions in areas you can hide them in your bikini. Hope this helps. Goodluck.

I always recommend to my patient to wait at least 3 months to enjoy of the good sun specially summer sun, you can have color discoloration and your incisions as well and end dark. Good luck!

You will want to keep the surgical area protected from the sun while you heal.  Reapply sunblock frequently.  The healing skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure and incisions that are exposed could result in permanent pigmentation changes.

You can wear whatever you want to six weeks after the procedure.
Your results will be starting to approximate final outcomes by six weeks. By three months, your results will be final. The incisions made during the procedure will continue to heal and improve for 12 to 18 months.
