I’m having complications when I sit down. I get tingling sensation and numbness when I sit down. I get a red warm spot on my leg if im sitting for a long time. I got a MRI done that said that I now have osteoarthritis and just recently got diagnosed with GERD and lost 50 pounds from it being sick. I’ve been a healthy person and never had any illnesses until I had this surgery. I just want to know are any of these things a connection to this procedure.
Answer: Understanding Post-BBL Complications: Are They Related to Osteoarthritis and GERD? I'm sorry to hear about the discomfort and health issues you've been experiencing. It's important to understand that while plastic surgery procedures like the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) can have associated risks and complications, the conditions you mentioned—osteoarthritis and GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)—are generally not directly related to this procedure. Numbness and tingling in the buttocks when sitting down could potentially be linked to the BBL procedure if, for example, there was damage to some of the nerves during surgery. The red, warm spot on your leg could be due to various causes and should be assessed by a healthcare professional to ensure there's no serious underlying issue, such as a blood clot. As for the osteoarthritis and GERD, these are usually not connected to a BBL procedure. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease that typically develops gradually over many years, and GERD is a digestive disorder that involves stomach acid frequently flowing back into the esophagus. That said, it's crucial to consult with your primary care physician or a specialist to thoroughly evaluate these conditions and their potential causes. In some cases, significant weight loss can exacerbate GERD symptoms, so it's important to discuss this with your healthcare provider. I hope you find this information helpful. Remember, the best course of action when you're experiencing health concerns is to reach out to a healthcare professional who can provide personalized advice based on your full medical history and current symptoms. Thank you for your question, and I wish you the best of luck in resolving these issues and improving your health. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: BBL complications Dear jaweber2, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: BBL Complications after 2 years Hello @jaweber2, thank you for your question. BBL removes fat cells from the body, improves body shape, and adds volume to the glutes with the patient's own fat. It is not related to osteoarthritis or GERD. Refer to your primary physician to find out what is happening and perform the tests required to arrive at a diagnosis. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Arthritis and GERD after cosmetic surgery There is no correlation between developing acid, reflux, or osteoarthritis, and having either Liposuction or fat transfer. Arthritic pain, especially hip pain can be highly variable and there’s a poor correlation with the degree of pain and the degree of arthritis. I suggest working with local orthopedic surgeons for your hip arthritis. See what treatments may be available as well as your primary care doctor or gastroenterologist in regards to GERD. These conditions are not related to having liposuction or fat transfer. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
