Hello. I am scheduled for a BBL on June 1. My tests came back today and everything was in normal range besides my 8.9 total protein result. Will this affect my surgery?

Answer: Preoperative protocol Dear nikkitay18,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Answer: Lab test I suggest you discuss your preoperative lab test results with your provider. Most people posting questions about preoperative lab tests are scheduling surgery out of the country or in distant locations. I recommend patients not to travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. People seem to not appreciate the importance of having in person consultations, the number of patients who have significant concerns after surgery, the number of people who end up needing revisions, or that complications actually happen. Typically the Doctor Who orders the test is responsible for reviewing the results with the patient. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
