2 days post, is it normal to have sharp pain in only one boob?

Question

Since this morning my left breast has had pain on the upper outer side, almost like a throb and burn at time. My right side feels great though. Could this be a sign of something bad? Also, last night I had to reach with my left arm very fast to stop my daughter from falling off the bed and was hoping this is just soreness from that?? Thank you!!

It is very common for one breast to hurt more than the other. In fact, I probably hear that concern as frequently as they feel exactly the same. As long as one breast doesn't look way different than the other, there is probably nothing to worry about. In particular, if one breast was significantly bigger AND significantly more bruised, you would need to check with your treating plastic surgeon to make sure that you don't have a post-op hematoma.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing pain following your surgery. It is not uncommon to experience pain a few weeks after breast augmentation surgery. However, it would be best that you visit your plastic surgeon for proper assessment and intervention to lessen your discomfort, as every surgeon has different approaches in pain management.

Thanks for your question. Sharp pain on one side can be normal 2 days after surgery as long as it's not associated with significantly increased swelling on one side, which can represent a hematoma. If you are concerned about one-sided swelling or other visible change in your breast, please reach out to your plastic surgeon.

Good Morning and thank you for your question!  At this point the sharp burning pain you are feeling is normal. This feeling is nerve endings that are regenerating and you will feel this for a little throughout your healing process so no need to be alarmed.  Best of Luck !

Thanks for this question!It is normal for one side to hurt more or have a different sensation that the other side. Swelling and drop and fluff is also different from side to side. I would ask you to check with your plastic surgeon about last night. Congratulations and best wishes.

and thank you for the question. Individual patients are different when it comes
to pain after breast augmentation. Some patients complain of significant
pain/pressure across the chest. When placing the implant under the muscle, we
do an extensive dissection and it's not unusual to have significant pain. The
key is to make sure nothing else is going on, like
bleeding/hematoma, which often presents as swelling in one breast. It would be best that you reach out to your surgeon for an evaluation.

It’s not unusual to feel discomfort in your breast(s) following your breast augmentation. In fact, one side may be in more discomfort than the other but it’s always in your best interest to inform your surgeon about any feeling of persisting or sharp pain following your procedure. If you were given pain medication and you’re able to take it, it’s often advised to help manage the pain you’re experiencing. It’s always a good idea to keep your surgeon informed of your recovery process.

Although both breasts were operated on at the same time, it's not uncommon for the breasts to heal differently.  Therefore what you are feeling is completely normal.  Your symptoms should improve over time.  Hope this helps!
