Could my uneven lips be swelling or too much filler? (photo)

I had my lips injected with Juvederm three days ago, at the time I said one side looked a bit out of shape the nurse said it’s because one side has already started to swell. Now my right side is larger than my left and my Cupid’s bow has been pushed over towards my right side. Does this sound like the effects of swelling or is it due to more filler on one side? Can I do anything to fix this?

Lips can swell uneven. It can take up to two weeks for everything to be fully settled. If you have any concerns at two weeks ask your nurse to review you in person.

Uneven lisps after fillers is not uncommon. This could be a result of swelling and/ or uneven placement of fillers. You should wait for 2 weeks, at which time swelling most likely will have resolved. If your lips are still uneven, return to your injector.

Hello, and thank you for the question.  It's not uncommon to have slight swelling after having filler injected into your lips.  I would wait at least two weeks and see if any residual swelling subsides.  if you are still unhappy with the result, I recommend returning to your injector for a second look.

Swelling is common after lip injections and can take up to two weeks to resolve.  If after that time you still have concerns, return to your injector for an evaluation.  Gentle massage of the area may help minimize the swelling in the meantime.

It could be either! You will need to wait 2 weeks after the injection to know.  By that time, the treated area should have "settled down" and the filler should have integrated some with the other tissue to give a smoother look.  
If it still looks uneven after 2 weeks, it was likely due to injection technique, and can be improved by carefully injecting tiny quantities of hyaluronidase to dissolve part of the larger side.
Since we are talking about your face, you really need to consider the experience and expertise level of the injector.  I have had many people come to me over the years to fix the "boo-boos" of other injectors, because the person was getting injected really cheaply by someone who got product from the Vendor to "practice with."  This is your face! Is it worth going through that? Just some food for thought.

Lips more than any other part of the body tend to swell following injections. With the Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus the lips tend to swell quite a bit and that can last for almost a week or two. That is why we have switched to the Restylane or Prollenium Versa fillers that do not cause as much swelling. Whatever the situation is, you have to give yourself at least one and sometimes as long as two weeks for the swelling to come down before any decision and treatment can be offered. Good luck from New York City

I counsel my patients to wait a full two weeks before considering adding filler or dissolving filler with hyaluronidase. Swelling can make results look asymmetric initially and I find the lips to swell considerably after injection - some fillers more than others. This is usually worse in the first few days and goes down gradually after that. Hang in there for two weeks. If it is still uneven, a little hyaluronidase can be injected to dissolve the product and hopefully even things out.

Thank you for your question. Swelling is something that is very common after your procedure. Taking Bromelain will also help with inflammation. Swelling may occur for up to 72 hours, and up to 2 weeks to see the full results of your procedure. Best of luck!
