Hello. I was wondering if this is true and if it really works. I get botox around my eyes and forehead but have never had a doctor mention it for those bands in my neck. I'm tall and thin with a long skinny neck and they bother me almost more than anything at this age. I don't quite feel ready for a face lift. My face is red today and I have no makeup :)
Answer: Botox for platysma neck bands Thank you for the question, and yes you can be treated with botulinum toxin (Botox) for softening neck platysmal bands. The softening, as with all Botox treatments, is more noticeable upon contraction of the neck muscles with expression, but you appear to be a good candidate for Botox treatment for your neck bands since you have a slender neck. If you do not have the impact that you desire with Botox treatment, you would be a very good candidate for a surgical neck lift especially because of your long, slender neck. I hope that helps, and best wishes on your treatment.

Answer: Botox does work for many neck bands but there are other options. Botox injected into the neck bands does help soften them. Many patients want more improvement so they get a platysmaplasty where we make a little incision under the chin and stitch the bands together for more permanent effect. It is very easy to undergo and looks very natural.

Answer: It can be a wonderful option for certain individuals. You need a good dose of Botox for this (probably 20-30 units). Try it once, if it is great, fantastic. If it is disappointing, save your money for a surgical neck lift. The lower face/neck lift continues to be one of the most powerful options for improving face and neck issues. However, it is great when there are nonsurgical options. They are not as powerful as surgery and finding an injector who knows what they are doing can be challenging.

Answer: From your photos, it appears you are a great candidate for Botox to the neck bands. Thank you for your question. From your photos, it appears you are a great candidate for Botox to the neck bands. It typically takes 10 units of Botox to treat each band and it can take 2 weeks to see your final results. Please remember Botox is temporary and typically lasts 3-4 months. I recommend having a consultation with an expert injector to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck!

Answer: Botox for neck bands? 55-year-old female wants to relax the neck bands The neckbands can be relaxed with Botox which is the good news. The bad news is it takes a lot of Botox to make this happen which can be very cost prohibitive, and it will not last for long. The reason for this is that the platysma muscle is a large and dynamic muscle. A surgical platysma plasty with a neck lift procedure would be a much better option in the long-term. For many examples, please see the link and the video below
