Botox and breastfeeding toddler (2yrs)

Don't get botox while breastfeeding.  The risk is likely to be small.  However, we simply have no research on this.  For this reason, don't do this again.

Thank you for your question. BOTOX® Cosmetic is comprised of botulinum toxin, which has been used in medical treatments for decades. The amount of botulinum toxin used in BOTOX® injections is very small compared to the amounts used in many medical treatments; however, there is currently no research proving that the product does not enter the breast milk or affect a nursing child. To be on the safe side, I recommend waiting until you are finished breastfeeding before starting BOTOX® treatments. Good luck!

Thank you for your question. There have been no studies done on how Botox will or will not affect pregnancy or a developing fetus. This is why most injectors recommend waiting until after pregnancy and breastfeeding to get Botox. Best of Luck!

Thank you for your question kworon. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with
facial expression. The safety and efficacy of Botox has not been tested in women who are breast feeding. For this reason I do not treat nursing women with Botox. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Hello kworon,Thank you for your question. Peace of mind or reassurance cannot be given for a subject matter of which there are no studies or data to support the inquiry. This is one of those areas and thus Botox use while breastfeeding or pregnant is NOT recommended and should be discussed with your injector before any injections are done. Two options to give you piece of mind: 1. Continue breast feeding and hold off on Botox until you are no longer breastfeeding. 2. Stop breastfeeding and proceed safely with Botox. 

Botox has not, as far as I am aware, been studied in breastfeeding patients. You should have mentioned this to your practitioner - or they should have advised you appropriately. Although the chances are extremely low that any could enter the breast milk, I would suggest you stop breast feeding. Even if the chances are 1 in a million of getting problems, I wouldn't expose my child to this risk.

There are no studies regarding this and it is virtually impossible for there to be a problem. But it is better to err on the side of caution so I recommend at this point to stop Breast feeding
