I use conventional tumescent liposuction instead of ultrasonic. There is a risk for burns with ultrasonic.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Ultrasound assisted liposuction is effective for gynecomastia but often a combined approach with direct excision and adding liposuction can result in a more effective and complete result. Discuss these options with your surgeon. Best wishes!
Ultrasound assisted Liposuction "UAL" is typically advantageous in more fibrous tissues. The energy is helpful in emulsifying the fat and breaking though the dense connective tissue particularly seen in gynecomastia. Yes, in the right hands it can work very well. In addition to the normal risk of liposuction, you have a risk for thermal injury...burning the skin and or surrounding structures. Hyperpigmentation has also been noted. Paul
Gynecomastia is breast development in a male. The breast is made up of fat in glandular tissue. In men that have predominantly fat liposuction works well. That represents about 90% of cases.

Your doctor can usually tell with a good exam ,if you have true gynecomastia( excess male breast tissue) or pseudo gynecomastia ( enlarged breasts mainly composed of fat)For the later problem any form of lipo can get the job done-regular ,ultrasonic, laser assisted or power assisted.Ultrasound machines generate heat so had a small added risks of local burns in addition to the other standard risks from any lipo.If your problem is primarily real Breast tissue it needs to be excised ,some patients have both extra breast and extra fat so we combine excision and lipo in that case.
I always use ultrasonic liposuction in gynecomastia proceedures and go to the final end point with traditional liposuction. breast tissue has alot of dense connective tissue and ultra sonic lipo breaks it up. the risks of this surgery include contour irregularities an asymetry. it has a high success rate
Thanks for the question. All surgical procedures have some degree of discomfort. The post op pain can often be controlled with over the counter pain relievers or a short prescription of narcotic pain pills. I wish you all the best.
It looks to me like a large portion of the fat that you are frustrated with is INTRA-ABDOMINAL. In other words you have a significant amount of fat inside your abdominal cavity. This fat is not amenable to liposuction. At your current weight I fear you would be disappointed with an...
