RCT re treatment on #19. Still having feeling even after crown prep.

Hi:There are two possible reasons for the continued sensitivity if there is no fracture in the tooth:1.  Pain due to trauma of the root canal treatment to the surrounding bone around the root.  This may take up to 2 weeks to fully go away.  2.  Bite on the temporary crown is not correct.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Emmashae,The two most common diagnosis with your symptoms are that the tooth root is cracked or the temporary crown may be hitting the tooth on the top prematurely.   A bite issue can be easily diagnosed and adjusted by your dentist.   A vertical tooth fracture although not that common is very possibly causing your problem.  An accute vertical fracture is virtually impossible to see on an xray or clinically.  So it doesnt surprise me that your current dentist cannot see it.  The best way to diagnose it is to tap the tooth from the side and not from the chewing surface.  If the tooth is sensitive when you push on it from the side, it may be vertically fractured.  If that is the case, the only way to get rid of the pain you are describing is to have the tooth removed.  Fortunately, in most cases the number 19 area is easy to replace with a dental implant.  I am sorry for your frustration.  Hoping you find a solution soon.I have included a link to some more information on tooth fractures.Warm Regards,

Dear emmashae,Thank you for posting your question.  I understand your frustration with your recent Root canal treatment.  The information I am about to share with you is a general assessment as I only have limited information.  Sometimes a tooth that has had Root canal treatment and still hurts could be indicative of an underlying Bite Imbalance.  The Bite Imbalance would need to be corrected prior to placing a permanent restoration.
