hi,The lab usually keeps the models about 7 to 10 days or how ever long it takes them to make the crowns or other dental work. Its then returned to your dentist with the finished product and from there we discard the models.
Models are typically discarded after the prosthetics are delivered as there is no use for them.
As soon as a crown is seated, we discard the models. The models no longer serve any purpose and take up space in the office. Should the crown need to be remade, the tooth would need to be reshaped and a new impression taken, so no need to keep the model.
If a piece of tooth broke in your moutt then it would be wise to call your dentist. I am not certain why that tooth was not crowned after the root canal, but it should be now before the tooth fractures further. Good luck.
You really should not have any restrictions with your gold crown. You should always stay away from extremely hard things such as ice cubes and "rock candy" on all of your teeth to avoid chipping or breaking them, but otherwise you should be ok. Hope this helps.
A tooth that has had two root canals and still causing you pain is not a good sign. I would recommend that you schedule an appointment with a dentist soon. There is a decent chance that this tooth may need to be extracted and have a dental implant placed. Best of luck.
If you have lost a post and crown and the remaining tooth has decay it is very likely that this tooth is not restorable and should be extracted. It is always best to plan for a dental implant for the extracted tooth if possible. Ask your dentist about this option.
