Chaffing and rashes on inner thighs. Will insurance pay to get any sort of procedure done to minimize the size of my thighs?

Thank you for your inquiry and congratulations on your weight loss.Insurance companies are usually pretty strict on what is covered after weight loss.   You should check with your insurance company under your specific plan to see if a thigh lift is covered.   The best advice I can give you is to discuss the issue with your PCP and have them prescribe an antifungal cream or Hydrocortisone cream for you.   If your doctor has it documented that you are having issues and are being treated for it, your plastic surgeon can submit this information to your insurance company.   Your surgeon needs to provide evidence that the surgery is to correct a medical issue and that the procedure is not being performed for cosmetic reasons.I hope this helps.

Not all skin removal surgery after weight loss - like a thigh lift for you, for example - are covered by insurance companies, unfortunately. But since it’s causing you discomfort, you have a pretty good chance of getting approved.
First, talk to your insurance provider and let him know that you’re getting wounds and rashes because of excess skin in your inner thighs. Provide photos if necessary. Provide proof as well that you’ve tried non-surgical solutions, but they didn’t work.
