I had juvederm injected into my chin last week (0,5ml) and have now had two injections of hylase to remove the juvederm, but it won't go away. How come? I'm also wondering about if restylane (perlane) is easier to remove with hylase than juvederm (voluma)? What if there is an emergency like a blod vessel being blocked and the filler needs to be removed as soon as possible but the hylase are not able to break it down? What do you do then?

Answer: Hyaluronidase to Remove Juvederm and Restylane Injections Hyaluronidase injections are used to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers in the face. Some injections are easier to dissolve than others. Juvederm Voluma are thicker cross-linked particles and are more difficult to dissolve than Restylane or Juvederm. Restylane is usually the easiest to dissolve of all of the fillers. It also depends on the location and the amount of filler used to inject which can create areas that take more fillers to dissolve the product. Please consult an expert in facial fillers to address these concerns. Best, Dr. Green

Answer: Hyaluronidase /Juvederm Hyaluronidase will remove all Hyaluronic acid gels including Restylane and Juvederm . Since Restylane is a particle gel compared to Juverderm, I believe it is more susceptible to breaking down with the hyaluronic acid gel. However it depend if the Hyaluronidase is injected directly into the area of the product. It also depends on the amount of product injected as well as its dilution. The more Hyaluronidase that is injected, the better the dissolution of the hyaluronic acid gel. In an emergency setting, a very large quantity needs to be injected and the sooner the better.
