I’m in pretty good shape, I’m 40 years old, 5’8” and weigh 140lbs As I’ve gotten older I find under my c-section incision it feels chubby ... where I feel it leads to a chubby vag too I’ve had two c-sections over a decade ago What is the best procedure for me?
Answer: Very common! It is very common for women to get just a little bit of extra skin or pooch right above the C-section scar. The scar indentation makes it look even worse! Most of these respond really well to a bit of revision around the C-section scar almost like a “mini mini” tummy tuck and then a little Lipo in the pubic region to thin that area out. It works really well!

Answer: C-section Scar Revision This is an easy fix and can be performed under local anesthesia with light sedation. Typically, it’s to your benefit to couple the skin removal and abdomen tightening with Liposculpting.

Answer: I’ve had two c-sections and want to fix the overhang of skin where my incision is. There are a variety of procedures that can produce a good cosmetic result in the appropriate patient: liposuction, a mini tummy tuck, a modified with an umbilical float, or a variety of a full abdominoplasty. All of the tummy tuck variations may or may not include tightening of the muscle and liposuction. Generally if there is significant loose skin above the umbilicus (belly button), a full tummy tuck will result in a greater correction and better outcome. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do without seeing photos and more importantly without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: I’ve had two c-sections and want to fix the overhang of skin where my incision is. Thank you for your question! I hope that these answers help! Tummy tuck is an excellent method for shaping the belly and create a flatter and sculpted abdomen after the procedure. It sounds like you would be an excellent candidate for the full tummy tuck procedure in order to remove the excess skin/soft tissue of your lower abdomen and contour the areas of your belly. Also, abdominal wall tightening may optimize your result. Stretch marks to the level of your umbilicus will also be excised. I would highly recommend continueddiet and exercise prior to any consideration for body contouring as getting down to your ideal weight prior to the procedure will certainly give you the best results. Also, a continued healthy and active lifestyle will be needed in order to maintain the benefits that the procedure has given to you. Once you are ready for the procedure, I would suggest a full tummy tuck with abdominal wall tightening along with some liposuction to the hips/flanks for additional contouring. This would remove the excess skin/soft tissue and stretch marks while contouring your belly. You should consult with aplastic surgeon at anytime to go over options to assist you in decidingwhich procedure(s) would be right for you. The mini tummy tuck has limited usefulness and limited candidates as it truly only addresses excess skin in a small area above your pubis. However, without seeing you, this may be an adequate option. While the recovery time is shorter and cost is less for a mini, the benefits afforded to you by a full tummy tuck are much greater and will optimize your result. Best wishes!

Answer: Tummy tuck candidate Dear AZgirlatheart,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination but based on your information, you will most likely need a tummy tuck. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
