Thanks for your inquiry, but without an exam it is hard to advise. Your pain could be many things including nerve pain, muscle pain, etc. Please see your plastic surgeon to be evaluated.
Thanks for this question. Severe pain needs to be evaluated by your doctor. This is especially true if the medications given are not working. Call soon!Good luck. Dr. ALDO
First, get checked over by your surgeon -just to make sure there is no serious underlying cause of the pain - such as hematoma, infection, problems with your plication, etc. Then, if none of those things are present, you can discuss the various medications for pain management (NSAIDS, neurontin, etc.)
Thank you for sharing your question. After three weeks it would not be uncommon to have some residual discomfort from a tummy tuck but it should not be as severe as you describe. I would reach out to your surgeon for an in-person exam so as to ensure no other issues are taking place. Hope this helps.
The most important thing is to have your surgeon check you to ensure there is no concerning issue. It could be something as simple as nerve pain due to normal regeneration after surgery, a neuroma ("clump" of nerve tissue often associated with a scar in tummy tucks which can rarely be seen), collection of fluid under the skin, etc. If you are having more significant and associated symptoms such as fever over 101.5, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, etc. call your surgeon and discuss whether a visit to the ER is warranted to rule out something inside the tummy not related to the surgery itself. Always best to get checked in person when a postoperative concern arises. Good luck and feel better!
This could be a very serious issue or just slow healing? Best to seek immediate medical care and call your operate surgeon ASAP.
First of all, you need to see your PS as severe pain 3 weeks post op may be something serious and may not even be related to the tummy tuck itself. A thorough exam to rule out other more serious causes is warranted. If it turns out that it is related to the TT, it is likely nerve pain and will get better with time.
Hi there, Happy New Year. You ask an excellent question. Bear with me here, and I'll try and give you a holistic picture so that you have a full understanding of your question and the answer. The answer is at the bottom! There are five elements to a TT that we as surgeons consider when e...
I recommend not lifting anything heavier than 5 lbs for the first 3 weeks post-op, nothing heavier than 15 lbs for weeks 3 to 6, and then after 6 weeks I tell patients to gradually increase their lifting without restriction. I also tell my patients to wear an abdominal binder for the...
