Dysport 100 units injected between my eyebrows and for crows feet on May 1st. Feel like it's wearing off already. Normal?

I had 100 units of Dysport injected between my eyebrows and for crows feet on May 1st. It was my first time. I felt like I still had some movement and went for a follow up. I was told my forehead muscles which were not injected were causing the movement between my eyebrows and I didn’t need anymore Dysport. The injector is conservative. It’s now May 23rd and I feel like it is wearing off already and getting more movement back. My face was feeling tight but now feels normal. Is this normal?

This isn't typical, but you could have had initial swelling impacting your results. I recommend following up with your injector. If necessary, a touch-up of Dysport may give improvement. Hope this helps.

It would be helpful to examine you to give you the best advice as to why your Dysport may be wearing off 3 weeks after you had it done.  For most people, the effect should last at least 2-3 months and for some it can last as long as 6 months.  There are a couple of reasons for why yours may be wearing off so fast.  First, it is possible that not enough Dysport was used.  100 units split between two areas should give you a result, but I would more likely use 120 units split between the frown and the crow's feet.  Some people do require more than usual to obtain the desired effect.  Second, it is possible the placement of the injections could affect the outcome.  Without knowing exactly where your injections were placed, it is impossible to determine if this might be a cause or not.

Based on the dose you were given it would be uncommon for Dysport to already be wearing off.  Typically neuromodulators' effects fade gradually over three to four months.  I encourage you to return to your injector for an evaluation or if you prefer, visit another injector for a second opinion.

It is true that the muscles in neighboring areas which were not injected may overcompensate for the muscle paralysis in the areas that were injected. This may be responsible for new lines. Visit your doctor to discuss your concerns in full detail.

The effects of Dysport depend on the technique of injection, how much product was injected into each area, etc. Sometimes it is best to be conservative with initial treatments and use a lesser amount of product to achieve a more natural look. Always discuss your concerns with your injector so they are aware of what your treatment goals are prior to receiving a treatment. If you are looking for a more frozen look, you may need to have Dysport injected into the forehead as well. It is best to consult with your provider for a follow up to determine whether more product is needed or not.

100 units of Dysport is the equivalent of 33U of Botox or Xeomin. This is a conservative amount for the glabella and crows feet. If you told your injector that you wanted to keep some animation (movement) in these areas, then that was an appropriate dose. I usually use 40U of botox/xeomin or 120U of dysport for these areas if a patient tells me they prefer no movement at initial consultation. An additional 20-30 units of dysport in the areas of concern should remedy the problem. You may also consider treating the forehead, but your brow height position may decrease.Thank you for your question.

100 units is an appropriate amount for the targeted areas. I like to have my patients wait a full 2 weeks before coming in to get more injections. Without any before and after pictures I can't compare what effects the dysport has done. Please follow up with your injector to see if you need more units.

100 units seems like a decent dosage in my practice- although I would characterize myself as conservative as well. most of my patients like to strike the balance of not being able to totally deepen the lines in question and having some movement so as to allow for facial expressions (which are an unconscious form of communication) 
that being said, the effect shouldn't wear off in 3 weeks. product placement could be at play, as well as dilution. there is a dose effect - the more you put in the longer it lasts, but the more at risk you might be to have no movement. there are some people who note that one of the botulinum toxins lasts longer in them than the others, although I have not found this to be consistent among the three.
worth another conversation with your injector to get 'it right' for you - which might be different that some one else.
