Can type 1 diabetic have rhinoplasty surgery?

Diabetics can undergo rhinoplasty safely. Your glucose can be monitored while you are under anesthesia to make sure it doesn’t go too low.

You are correct that patients with diabetes, have an increase risk of wound healing and increased risk of infection. However, this would be extremely rare in a rhinoplasty as the nasal tissues have such an excellent blood supply. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon, but I feel that you can proceed with confidence that this will not affect your rhinoplasty surgery.

Individuals with well-controlled diabetes should be able to have elective cosmetic surgery without too many consequences.
Individuals who have had poor controlled, long-standing diabetes with subsequent sequelae may need medical clearance or are perhaps, not ideal candidate for elective cosmetic surgery.
You may want to check with your primary care doctor to make sure everything is in order, and that your blood sugars are well-controlled. I suggest having multiple in person consultations to help find the best provider and get a good understanding of what this procedure can, and cannot accomplish. You can bring up your medical history during the consultation and he would each provider has to say firsthand.
Rhinoplasty surgery is fairly complex, and the choice of providers can make a big difference.
