Hi doc! i'm type 1 diabetic since i was 14, and now i'm 22. i was planning to have rhinoplasty cs it's my dream but i'm really concern for my health. can type 1 diabetic have rhinoplasty? best luck for me! from ph :)

Answer: You are rhinoplasty surgery should not be affected. You are correct that patients with diabetes, have an increase risk of wound healing and increased risk of infection. However, this would be extremely rare in a rhinoplasty as the nasal tissues have such an excellent blood supply. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon, but I feel that you can proceed with confidence that this will not affect your rhinoplasty surgery.
