I am a 22 year old female and I have always disliked my jawline and the side profile of my neck, even when I was at a low weight. Most of my family has a similar face shape so I know it is genetic. I would like to know if there is a way to make my neck, chin, and overall jawline more defined. I have seen some people get great results from chin lipo, so I would like to know if it would work for me, or what else I could do.

Answer: Perhaps neck liposuction and a small chin implant. On front view, you do not have a double chin. You may have a slightly short appearance of the lower 1/3 of your face, however. On profile, I can see that your jawline on is not well defined. Some of this could be from a congenital anterior hyoid. Since you are so young, I would not recommend anything more invasive than neck liposuction and a small chin implant, to achieve a better defined jawline. An in person evaluation would be necessary to determine your candidacy. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Female age 22 am I a good candidate for chin liposuction From these limited photographs it appears that you have several issues going on that need to be addressed properly. The first issue is that you have a recessive chin, and pre-jowl hollows, just below the corners of your mouth on your mandible. This can be addressed with a small chin implant. The second issue is because you have a recessive chin you have fat deposits located both above and below the platysma muscle in your neck. Liposuction can only accomplish removal of the fat deposits above the muscle which will be minimally effective. A Surgical neck lift is required to remove the fat deposits below the muscle, which also includes a platysmaplasty to significantly improve the jawline once both compartments of fat have been removed. This procedure can be done with three small access incisions. No skin removal is required at your age. These procedures are performed under General anesthesia which takes about an hour and a half.
