I want to get liposuction for my double chin but I have a thick scar from a previous chin implant. I had gotten a chin implant in 2020, but then got it removed 6 months later. Will the scar effect my eligibility to get chin liposuction?
Answer: Eligibility for Double Chin Liposuction with a Pre-existing Chin Implant Scar When considering double chin liposuction with the presence of a thick scar from a previous chin implant, it’s important to take several factors into account. Here are some considerations and steps to help determine your eligibility: Consultation with a Specialist: The first step is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist who specializes in facial procedures. They will be able to assess the scar tissue and its impact on potential liposuction. Scar Assessment: The surgeon will evaluate the location, thickness, and maturity of the scar to determine how it might affect the liposuction process. In some cases, thick or dense scar tissue may pose challenges, but experienced surgeons can often work around or address these issues. Surgical Technique: Depending on the assessment, the surgeon may suggest specific techniques that can minimize the impact of the scar on the liposuction procedure. This might include alternative incision sites or advanced techniques to navigate around scar tissue. Scar Revision: If the scar is particularly problematic, the surgeon might recommend a scar revision procedure before or in conjunction with liposuction. This can help improve the appearance and pliability of the scar tissue, potentially enhancing the outcome of the liposuction. Risks and Expectations: The surgeon will discuss any additional risks posed by the scar and set realistic expectations for the liposuction results. Proper post-operative care will also be crucial in managing scar tissue and ensuring optimal healing. Overall, while a thick scar can present challenges, it does not necessarily preclude you from having double chin liposuction. An experienced surgeon will be able to provide the best advice and treatment plan tailored to your specific situation.

Answer: A scar in your chin crease should not preclude neck liposuction. If you are a good candidate for neck liposuction, it may be an opportunity to revise the scar under your chin at the time of your procedure. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Chin Liposuction after implant removal The removal of the chin implant will have no bearing on the neck/chin liposuction. The most important part is the evaluation by a surgeon to confirm that you have enough fat that can be removed with liposuction. Also, consider Thermitight as fat removal can lead to loose skin. Chin liposuction helps reduce the bulge under the chin and can be done for the whole neck. Once the fat is removed the skin can become loose and saggy in some cases. It can be avoided by combining it with Thermitight which is a radiofrequency heat delivered under the skin to tighten it. Both chin liposuction and Thermitight can be done at the same time. The recovery is fast and it can be done under local anesthesia. Click on the video link below Regards Dr. J

Answer: Double chin treatment Liposuction treatment can be performed after chin implant removal but the results will be less than ideal without addressing the lack of horizontal chin projection. Why was the chin implant removed? Without the benefit of photos, I would likely recommend a sliding genioplasty to improve your lower facial balance and eliminate the double chin, and perform simultaneous jawline and submental liposuction. The surgery is performed in the office with sedation anesthesia and can be accomplished simultaneously. Most patients are well recovered in one week.

Answer: Can I still get double chin liposuction if I have a thick chin implant scar It is certainly possible to undergo chin liposuction, regardless of whatever type of scar that you have in your chin itself. It's also important to understand that a liposuction can only accomplish removal of the fat deposits above the muscle, and many people have fat deposits below the muscle, which is actually going to require an surgical neck lift with a platysma plasty to significantly improve your jawline. Please post a full set of facial and neck photos to make that determination.
