Thanks for your inquiry, insurance would cover a hemorrhoid repair and umbilical hernia repair, but not the breast lift/implant, tummy tuck or liposuction.  They can be done at the same time, good luck.

Hi,
Insurance will not cover the cosmetic portion of your procedure. I do not think you should combine the hemorrhoid procedure with the mommy makeover. Also, depending on the size of the hernia- mesh repair is not always required and this should be reviewed based on physical exam. 
Wait for 3-6 months after your are done breast feeding as well.

Insurance will pay for a hernia repair almost always. They will not pay for diastasis recti repair. They will pay for a breast reduction if you meet the criteria.  They will not pay for an augmentation or lift.  They may pay for a panniculectomy if you skin hanging over 2 inches.  This is not a tummy tuck.  They will not pay for a tummy tuck or mommy makeover.

If you are finished having children you should wait about 6 months after you finish breastfeeding before considering surgery. Insurance will probably cover hernia and hemorrhoid issues but will not cover any of the mommy makeover procedure as they are considered cosmetic. Mommy makeover is considered cosmetic and therefore not covered  by insurance. Hernia repair and hemorrhoid surgery are covered by insurance. Insurance will not cover any of the cosmetic procedures. Because your MM includes a breast enhancement procedure, the lactation process should be complete before scheduling this surgery. Waiting six months to have the MM gives the patient more time to return to her non-pregnancy weight and regain energy to go through the MM.  Be sure that you have a good support system to help with your two young sons as you will not be able to do any strenuous lifting of more than 10 lbs for 4-6 weeks after surgery. You could have the hemorrhoid repair with a general surgeon which should be covered by your medical insurance while you are returning to your pre-pregnancy weight.

Dear Lauren,   Thanks for posting your pictures. From observing your pictures, you appear an excellent candidate for mommy make over, which includes tummy tick and breasts augmentation with full lift.    I would recommend to do the procedures separately , because the combination of procedures increases the severe complication rate X 2-3 and cosmetic surgery should have minimum risk , since you do not have to have it, but rather want to have it. Additionally, the combined procedures will take 7-8 hours and surgeon's fatigue can compromise the optimal result.   In regard to your tummy tuck, it is unnecessary to use mesh. In my 32 years of practice with tummy tuck surgery on well over 1000 patients I have never used Mesh. From the picture you might have umbilical hernia, but most likely you have an 'outy' that will be corrected with the abdominal muscles tightening.   In regard to the Hemorrhoids surgery, it is done by a general surgeon and I would recommend to have it done separately. Since it is not cosmetic surgery, it should be covered by your medical  insurance.   Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with natural look.                       Best of luck,                                      Dr Widder

I recommend addressing your  Hemorrhoid issue separately from Mommy Makeover. Body contouring procedures that you have outlined - are considered Cosmetic /elective-- so most likely it will not be covered by your insurance, but of course you should discuss it with your insurance company .

LaurenMommy Makeover Surgery is a great way to recover your pre pregnancy body, and carries a high level of patient satisfaction.  However, I would have your hemorrhoid surgery performed at an entirely different time. It is not a good procedure to tack on to a mommy makeover because of the location of the actual surgery and concern for infection.  I tailor each Mommy Makeover procedure to my patients' particular needs. Most include Tummytuck, with or without liposuction to flank and thigh regions and breast lift, with or without implants. It is best to wait at least 6-9 months after your final pregnancy, to allow your body to recover from the pregnancy and allow you to lose as much of the weight gained as possible during that time. If breast feeding, you must wait at least 3-6 months to pass once breast feeding has ceased. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good Luck!
