Currently 180 and 5 ft 7. My goal weight is 160. Scheduled for mommy make over with BA in Nov. (BBL, TT, lipo 360). Should I lose weight before procedures?
Answer: Should I lose weight before TT, lipo 360 and BBL? Currently 5'7 and 180 lbs Hello and thank you for your question and sharing your photos. Based on these photos and your BMI of 28, you are a good candidate for TT and BBL, which can be performed at the same time. During tummy tuck, extra skin in the lower half of your abdomen including the stretch marks will be removed. In addition, typically the fascial laxity/separation of recti muscles will be taken care of by muscle plication, giving you a flat abdomen. Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) typically includes a 360 liposuction of the abdomen and flanks, and fat grafting for gluteal augmentation. Liposuction of the flanks will narrow down the waist for an hourglass appearance and adding volume to buttocks in combination with liposuction of the lower back is intended at creating a natural curvy look. Basically, BBL removes the fat from unwanted areas and transfers it to areas that are desirable.Incision can be placed very low to be hidden under bikini. With proper surgical technique, belly button can be designed to be a true 'innie'. Recovery from tummy tuck is 1-2 weeks. Strenuous activity and lifting heavy weights should be avoided 6 weeks to 3 months post op. I would seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a full evaluation and advice. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Weight loss prior to a Mommy Makeover and tummy tuck Thanks for your questions and photos. Weight loss discussions come up frequently with my patients - prior to any cosmetic procedure - facelift, breast surgery, abdominal surgery, liposuction etc. I advise patients to get to a “maintainable” weight. This is usually not their ideal or “perfect” body weight. We are all able to lose weight quickly with crash diets or over-exercising, but that weight rarely stays off when we return to our normal diet or exercise regiment. Maintainable weight is the weight that patients can REASONABLY achieve with reasonable and permanent diet and exercise changes. This varies for every patient, and it won’t be listed in a table or book or online chart! In our practice, my wife (also an MD) has a wellness practice through which she can help and guide patients to their optimal weight and health prior to surgery with me. Make reasonable and lasting changes in diet and exercise for your overall health and fitness, and you’ll likely feel better and be at the best weight for your surgery. Discuss it at length with your board-certified surgeon. And best of luck!

Answer: Contemplation of weight loss before mommy makeover Hi and welcome to our forum! Your candidacy for cosmetic surgery requires consideration of many factors. One is measurement of your BMI (body mass index equals weight in kg / square of height in meters). You can find BMI calculators on the internet. If your BMI is > 30, the cosmetic result will not be optimal. If your BMI is > 35, your operative risk will rise. Your BMI is 28.19, considered overweight, but not excessively so. You would be considered a suitable surgical candidate at this time. It is best to be at a stable comfortable body weight at the time of surgery. Can your dramatic preoperative weight loss be maintained after your surgery? Will your weight loss put you into negative nitrogen balance, impairing your ability to heal after the surgery? Dieting is fine, but don't overdo it. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and advice. Best wishes...

Answer: Weight loss prior to surgery Hello, thank you for your questions and pictures! Typically it is suggested that you are within 10lbs of your desired weight prior to surgery. You don't want to lose too much weight within a month of surgery or it can cause vitamin deficiency's which can result in delayed healing. You can achieve optimal results with weight loss prior to surgery because it will also aid in the healing process if you maintain your BMI
