I had a consultation for an FUE hair transplant a couple days ago with a surgeon I like but anticipated the projected hairline to be lower. He wants the hairline to look as natural and insists on using current hairline as a guide. Will the marked line take me back to my pictured (younger self) hairline? I specifically asked if my temples could be filled out more and he said it wouldn’t look natural. Just want to get more opinions before committing.
Answer: Is hairline too low. A slightly higher natural appearing hairline is better than a unnatural lower hairline any day. It also depends on many other factors including but not limited to facial features and shape, age of patient, family history of hair loss and patient expectations. You do also have some temporal recession that could have been addressed on a conservative basis.

Answer: FUE Hair transplant Thank you for your question and for your photos. An in person consult is best recommended. I would advise you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon for a detailed examination to discuss all possible treatment options and what your expectations are.

Answer: Is the hairline too conservative? (Photos) Thank you for your question and photos. I'm in agreement with the physicians that answered your question. Your doctor's markings look very natural and age appropriate. Another thing to keep in mind is that as you get older the existing hair (not the grafted hairs) will get thinner. Because of your fairly youthful age, you will probably need more grafts in the future. I never recommend "using up " grafts to bring hairlines lower in youthful patients as it is using up follicles you may need in the future as your hair thins. Also, when your hair grows in, you may be surprised how good it looks as the density increases. Thanks again, and good luck.

Answer: Conservative Hairline? Your doctors opinion seems very reasonable, given your current facial structure and age. You must design a hairline that sits naturally over a matured facial morphology. Often a hairline redesign that looks too conservative on paper turns out to be abundantly rich post-op. It’s also not merely where you draw the line that counts, but the surgeons artistic prowess and technical capability, so be sure you are going with someone who is a specialist and a veteran in the field.
