Hey RealSelf, I am a MtF transexual. I desire rounded hips and a "bubble butt." Like most genetic males in their 40's, I have no hips and the spare tire around the middle. Can the fat from my middle be transferred to my hips and buttocks? I am from the Philadelphia area, and would like do have the procedure done as close as possible. What should I expect to spend ($5000, closer to $10,000, more)? I have seen ad for BBL in Miami for $3500. Are the savings worth the travel?
Answer: No, The Savings Are Not Worth The Travel The Brazilian Butt Lift is surgery. As with any surgery, there is risk involved. With the recent news coverage of BBL complications (and deaths) I advise anyone considering having this procedure to be very diligent in researching the procedure and choosing a board certified plastic surgeon wisely. A lower price, even without the travel, is not worth the risk if the surgeon is not well qualified (and board certified in plastic surgery). Here is my advice for what to look for when discussing a BBL during consults with plastic surgeons: Learn as much as you can about the procedure and its steps.Choose a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon (American Board of Plastic Surgery)Have Your Surgery Performed in an Accredited Surgery Center (AAAASF, JCAHO)Ask the surgeon about Injection Technique Details (Are the injections performed in the subcutaneous or intramuscular plane? How many cc's are injected in each pass? How long with the lipoinjection take? Have they read the ASERF report and recent publications about mortality in BBL?)Ask the surgeon about revision rates. What percentage of your surgeon's patients must have a 'touch up' procedure following a BBL?Use IV Sedation with Tumescent Solution instead of General AnesthesiaWhen performed with correct techniques by well-credentialed plastic surgeons, the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure can achieve beautiful results. You are likely going to be looking at the 10,000 end of your price range. The BBL has a wide variation in price from region to region and surgeon to surgeon. Low-cost "fat injection to the buttocks" procedures probably aren't comparing apples to apples, though. When the technique is done too quickly (with too much fat injected at one time) or incorrectly, the fat grafts do not get the adequate blood supply required for a permanent 'take.' And when too many corners are cut, or improper techniques are used, the results can be catastrophic. See the web reference below for more in-depth information about BBL safety concerns. Remember that this is elective surgery. This is your body. Best wishes!

Answer: Brazilian Butt Lift Cost The cost is predicated on many factors including surgeon's fee, OR, Anesthesia, geographic location, credentials, etc. The fees can range anywhere from $8,000-$13,000. Remember to not base your decision solely on price I advise going to American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to find a list of skilled board-certified plastic surgeons. I also recommend consulting with your board certified plastic surgeon for further individualized advice.

Answer: Brazilian Butt Lift (near Philadelphia) questions: fat transfer question, cost, recovery hello thank you for your question and provided information as well.. based on your question, the ideal thing is to consult with a certified plastic surgeon who will see you and evaluate you so that you can see what procedure you would apply to.as cost, my recommendation is the consultation where the plastic surgeon can give exact cost, because the price depends on the surgeon, the clinic, the country.as soon as the recovery will depend on the procedure to which you apply.

Answer: Perfect! Hello, thank you for your question. While each surgeon is different, at my practice, liposuction is performed on the entire torso: upper/lower back, upper/lower abdomen, and the flanks, thus reducing the size of the waist and improving the hip-to-waist ratio. If you are particularly narrow, you might require more than one procedure, but performed correctly, your first procedure will yield dramatic results. Good luck to you!
