Juvederm: Is this hemosiderin staining? Is it permanent? (photos)

Question

I had 1ml of juvederm put in my lips in Sept '16. At around the 3 week mark my bf bit my lip during a fairly hectic romp and the damage was.... bad. A flap of skin came off and the area was bruised, took weeks to heal and the bruise remained. I read somewhere that the filler could have leaked and it would fade as my body metabolised it or whatever. It's been ages. Is this even to do with the filler or is it the trauma? (Recreation drugs make it temporarily worse... changes in blood pressure?)

I'm sorry about your situation, but I think it can get better. You should have the area examined as there are several approaches including laser/peel/microneedling that could work.

This is most likely due to trauma and can be improved with a combination of lasers, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels and skin care. Sun protection is essential. See a cosmetic dermatologist for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

I am sorry to see what you are going through. This is the result of the healing after the trauma. The healing process implies neovascularization and the change in color in the area can be due to that. The filler has nothing to do with this problem.  consult with an expert to recommend the best laser/treatment for you. LM

I think this is not related to the filler but to the trauma. I would seek out a consult. Perhaps a vascular laser will help this like the Excel V laser.
