Juvederm Ultra or Ultra Plus for the lips?

The choice of filler used for the lips will depend on many factors including your baseline lip structure, amount of volume lost, the goals you are trying to achieve, etc. More important than the choice of filler is the experience of the injector. During an in-person evaluation and consultation you will be able to communicate your goals with your injector and they will be able to discuss your filler options with you and determine which one would be best. In general, Juvederm will give a softer more natural results, whereas Juvederm Ultra Plus will give a more dramatic volumization. If you want a more subtle improvement then options such as Restylane Silk, Volbella, or Belotero may be more appropriate. Make sure you see an experienced physician injector. Hi and thanks for your question. I prefer Juvederm Ultra for the lips because it is smoother than Ultra Plus, thus giving a more natural appearance. I use Juvederm instead of Restylane for the lips for the same reason. Restylane is firmer and the one thing I get worried about with a mobile area like the lips is lumping. I also find that Juvederm lasts longer then Restylane.

My preference is Juvederm Ultra if you want volume in your lips, but don't want them large. Juvederm Ultra Plus is more hydrophilic (absorbs water) and will give the pink lip a rather voluminous look. 

You are correct that Ultra Plus is "thicker" (has a higher G prime or hardness) compared to Ultra. I suggest considering Volbella, the new recently FDA approved filled by the Juvederm family specifically for lip augmentation; it is smoother to inject and blends the various aesthetic units of the lips nicely.

Ultra is thinner, so will give a softer result, where Ultra Plus is good for making a fuller, plumper lip. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical and full lip. Implants or fat are alternatives. See an expert in facial sculpting for a formal evaluation. Juvederm ultra is thinner and gives wonderful natural but still nice volume to the lips, whereas Ultra Plus does risk the feeling of lumps or an overfilled look a little more.  I find Restylane fills less overall and Volbella is very discreet. 
The skill of your injector is the key, and they can help you decide based on what you want and their own technique of injection.

I get that this can be very confusing!
When you’re thinking of any kind of fillers in your lips or face so many different images of both good and bad spring to mind.
The best thing you could do is consult with a provider with a great reputation. 
Once the two of you are together you can look at images of lips together. This will help the provider decide which filler is best for you.
If you want completely natural - consider Volbella. It is super soft and fluid. Excellent for creating subtle enhancement - and long lasting! 
Want a natural but firmer look so you have extra definition? Juvederm Ultra is a good option. 
Want more of a statement?? Think  - Juvederm Ultra Plus. 
And of course for all the above - there is the question of how many vials to add. Subtle? Or more eye catching? 
Finding the right provider who really listens and is experienced is key!
