QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Will PDO threads dissolve completely or will I need this thread removed? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for the photo. During your follow up, your physician will decide if this thread should be removed and replaced with a new one. This appearance must improve in the coming weeks. You can always follow up before if it doesn’t get better. Dr. L.M.

What treatment is best to get rid of sun spots, reduce pore size and diminish wrinkles for medium brown skin?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The best treatment for this set of problems is a combination of intense pulse light (IPL) and fractional laser treatment with a careful setting for your type of skin. PRP can also be used to enhance the result and shorten the recovery time, lowering chances of PIH. I always recommend to get an spot test.

Infini RF will not improve the sun spots.

Because of your skin type, I recommend to prime the skin first, soon after a series of treatments with low settings and PRP rather than one single aggressive treatment if the result of the spot test allows to proceed. Dr. L.M.

I had dysport in my forehead 10 days ago I know have blurred vision and my eyebrow/eyelid is sagging on one side. This normal?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It is difficult to asses the degree of the problem without a photo.”“Blurred”vision is not normal. There are different points that can be injected to overcome this type of cosmetic result. I advise you to follow up with the provider. He should know exactly how many units and where he injected. Is a varicose vein on the nose treatable? (photo)

the treatment of a vein in this area carries a high risk since it shares circulation with the brain. I don’t recommend to treat it. Dr. L.M.

Sudden, drastic development of puffy eye bags and worsening blue undereye veins. What can fix this? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for the photos. Usually eye bags develop over time and not suddenly. You can check first with your primary care physician and if your Physical and labs return normal you can consider to start treatments with PRP + hyaluronic acid ( fillers) and microneedling. If you are ready to choose a surgical procedure, transconjuntival lower blepharoplasty is the way to go. Dr. L.M.

What’s the best laser/peel/treatment to tighten facial skin and target acne scars?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Usually acne scars are treated based in their shape, depth and what type of acne scars the patient has, a combination of treatments is recommended for better results: RF, PRP, subsicion, TCA cross, filler e.g.  a good point to start is Infini RF combined with PRP.

For skin tightening can be used Infini  RF, PRP but depending on the degree of laxity it must be combined with other techniques. Dr. L.M.

Can I get a thread lift if I have an autoimmune disorder and or Hashimoto's?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

First of all, there are different kind of materials used for thread lifting. Certainly the one that can cause less reaction is the PDO.However, It hasn’t been conducted any study of Hashimoto’s disease or any other autoimmune diseases and PDO thread lifting. This material certainly can react as any other and  autoinmune diseases have been listed as one of the contraindications for PDO threading.  Dr. L.M.

I just had a thread lift. My one side of the face is very swollen. I look like I have Chipmunk cheeks. Will this go away?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

it is possible that you got the swelling coming from the pulling/ insertion of the threads. It must start going down after more or less 48h. You can ice gently and don’t do any massage in the area. I will advise to follow with the physician if it doesn’t improve with in 3 days. Dr. L.M.

What is the best procedure to treat dark spots, but avoid hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Age spots can be treated with IPL or laser. The type of treatment and the settings of the equipment selected for each patient depends on their type of skin. Darker skins need more gentle settings. Proper skin care before and after the procedure is a must.  Dr. LM

Bye bye baggage

I wish I could give her more stars. When I looked in the mirror, all I could see were bags under my eyes. Now, three weeks later I was at dinner with my sister and she asked, "where did your bags go?" My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner, bye bye luggage! Dr Manrique is extremely knowledgeable and caring. She puts you at ease immediately. I highly recommend her.

Great PRP!!!

I had PRP for under my eyes and am very happy with the results. Very professional and knowledgeable. Fully explained the procedure and allowed me to make my own decision to have the procedure. Uses a syringe like a paintbrush.

CO2 Laser

mpark012

My skin looked dull

I had three co2 laser sessions scheduled. From the beginning the doctor kept telling me not to go with CO2 and recommended more expensive treatment. She said my skin (Asian) is not good for the procedure with even non ablative co2. Other practices told me that non ablative CO2 should be good with good care. Even on the first treatment day, she asked if I want to change to her recommended treatment. I said no. After four weeks later, my skin looked kinda dull. At the same time, I remembered the machine what I thought I saw right next to the procedure chair. When I looked it up, it was not for CO2 laser. So I emailed to confirm if I got CO2 or not. I explained as well that my skin looked dull. The doctor replied back with rude tone accusing me that I do not trust her. At the end of the email, she said she would feel better to stop the entire procedures. We were supposed to talk on the phone to clarify but she recommended me to come in to talk. When I went to the office, basically, she said she would stop further procedures completely. Fine. Then why did I have to drive 40 minutes to hear that? I think I did not get the CO2 and based on her attitude, she is not confident with the procedure. I actually got minor laser burn right below my right eye. After applying Aquaphor, it healed eventually. The thing is that she was sitting on my right side. She did more on my right side of face. So more swelling on the right and more intensiveness on my right face... It is a three session package. The funny thing is that the first two session cost more and the last one is about half the price although they are the same procedures. Maybe that's intentional as ppl are not happy and cancel after one or two? Or she cancels when things don't go well and charge more for the early sessions. Be careful and make sure that you ask questions before you get any cosmetic services from her.
