Liposuction recovery is similar in all anatomic areas. The first 48 hours are the most uncomfortable and then the discomfort gradually goes away. we advise post-operative compression garments which minimize discomfort and maximize result.
Liposuction of the inner thigh can take longer to heal. You may feel swelling for a longer time than the outer thigh for example. The skin is thinner and reacts differently. Massage and a supportive garment can help to maximize the results.
Recovery for liposuction is relatively quick, but bruising and swelling can remain up to two or four weeks. Moderate exercise can be resumed after one week, and depending on the size of the area and how many areas are involved, many patients return to work within three to seven days. It is recommended to maintain a healthy lifestyle after the procedure to ensure long-term results.
Swelling is relative. Whenever liposuction is performed the extent of fat removal and the type of lipo will influence the degree of swelling. You will have decreased swelling with each passing week. Good luck
Most my patients do very well after inner thigh and leg liposuction. The key is good compression post procedure and movement/light exercise within 24 hours. Best, Dr. Emer.
In my opinion inner thigh liposuction has less downtime that abdominal liposuction. Compression garments are necessary. You're still worn for six weeks. The overall discomfort from the procedure is much less and of a shorter duration
This should be relatively quick. Other than requiring compression for about 4 weeks, you should feel sore for several days but should be able to do most things rather quickly. With compression swelling should resolve in 3-4 weeks.
Inner thigh lipo can be very rewarding, but in many patients there is a delicate balance between removal and laxity of the skin. It can be sometimes difficult to determine how much removal is too much. But, the inner thigh may stay swollen for several months after the procedure.
Your recovery for this type of liposuction is minimal. You can return to full activity within a week. More importantly, as long as your skin elasticity is good you should be able to see results in a week or two and final results in 6-12 months.Good luck!
If it is just straight forward liposuction in that one area, the recovery is fairly straight forward for most people (although recovery differs for every patient depending on their pain level). The swelling (and bruising) for most liposuction tends to be moderate but there are a few things I ask my patients to do that help alleviate it a little more quickly--frequent walking, use of the compression garment as instructed, lymphatic massage drainage sessions, and leg elevation when not walking. Most of the swelling & bruising should be gone or at least significantly within a few weeks after surgery. Good luck and make sure you schedule with a board-certified plastic surgeon!
