I have the 2 horizontal lines since I was 15 maybe even before and I am curious as to why I have these?! Was I born with them?! I am 33 and just wondering if these look bad and what type of treatments are out there if I wanted to get rid of them. Is this a normal thing?!
Answer: I've had neck lines since I was 15, maybe even before. What is the reasoning and is this a normal thing that women have? Hello kimali,Thanks for your question.Neck lines are normal for both men and women. They are more easily seen in thin necks like yours. They are attachment points between the skin of the neck and the underlying muscles of the neck that crease when you look down. The current term for this is "tech neck." We look down a lot because of your computers and smartphones. A procedure that I perform that tends to improve this is a combination of soft-tissue release using VASER liposelection, followed by topical laser or microneedling to soften the creases. The VASER basically disconnects the skin from the underlying muscle (when aided by facelift scissor release). As the skin and muscle reconnect in slightly different positions, the creases are seen as softer. There is nothing to make them go away completely, but this procedure typically makes patients happy.I hope this was helpful.Take care,Dr. Shah

Answer: Necklift Thank you for your question, kimali. I suggest you consult with your board certified facial plastic surgeon. You can address the necklines with the Laser-Assisted Weekend Necklift, although you are a few years too young for this procedure so you may want to consider other options as well. The Laser-Assisted Weekend Necklift provides a natural appearance in a short and comfortable recovery time after a procedure that leverages minimal invasiveness under local anesthesia. I leverage both surgical and nonsurgical techniques for this procedure.Best wishes,

Answer: Neck Lines -- Botox and Fillers, With or Without Lasers Like Fraxel / Clear + Brilliant / Viva These lines are genetic and can be improved but not cured with a combination of botox, fillers and lasers. I suggest seeing an expert that treats this often. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Unwanted neck skin creases Many people dislike the horizontal neck creases which develop throughout out life. (these sometimes run from ear to ear). Necks are very mobile and usually flexible, so we move our heads and necks hundreds of times daily. Therefore over time the skin gets pushed/pulled/stretched and this creates creases in the skin. Overtime, permanent deeper creases form. While this is annoying to some, it is not an abnormality. Neck lift surgery can help soften these but does not eradicate them, especially the deeper ones.

Fortunately you have a very nice young looking neck. The transverse lines are normal and are most likely inherited. If they bother you is some cases Botox injections can make them less obvious.
