Swelling, bruise and WRINKLES after botox in crows feet! What caused this?

When Botox is injected, the needle may nick a blood vessel in the skin which may result in bleeding and bruising.  This bruising may also cause some swelling in the area that looks like a lump.  This lump may cause some distortion in the surrounding tissue that looks like fine lines and wrinkles.  So what I am trying to say, is relax and give it time.  Let the swelling go down and let the Botox kick in.  Hopefully you will love the results!

botox can bruise around the eye and often takes up to 2 weeks to begin working.  I would give it a little time before making a judgement on the efficacy of the treatment.  best Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question. Botox takes 3 days- 2 weeks to see the full effects. Wait 2 weeks and then re assess your eye area. If at 2 weeks wrinkles remain, schedule a follow up with your injector and discuss your treatment options. Best, 

Bruising after Botox or fillers can and will happen.  Some people bruise worse than others.  And in many patients, one time they will bruise and another time they won't bruise at all.  Injection technique is important, so be sure to choose a board certified Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist.In your specific case, I would not be very concerned about the bruising in the crow's feet on one side and not the other.  The bruise will go away in a few days.  You also need more time for the Botox to start working.  It does not work immediately, and typically it takes a full week for you to start seeing results. it's actually kind of frequent...needles cause bruises...and this leads to swelling and certainly can result in temporary lumps and what appear to be more wrinkles...with patience and sufficient time everything self-corrects and you'll be in great shape...just need to let some time pass so the body can heal itself...take care...

If people get a bruise after Botox it is most often in the crow's feet area. This is because the skin is thinner there and veins/capillaries are hit easier. It won't last long and it will be ok. Often with a bruise will come a tiny bit of swelling. As everything calms down I would imagine the tiny wrinkles formed will also relax because they are most likely from the bruising and pulling. It sounds like you have a little extra swelling and bruising after standard injection.  Note that one side is just fine.  In about a week to 10 days the resolution of  the bruise will be finished.  As the swelling dissipates you will likely have a good result.
