I've had an irregular heartbeat and anxiety since botox a month ago. What should I do?

An irregular heart beat would certainly be a rare complication of Botox, but it has been described, particularly in older patients.  It may be conincidental.  Best to go back to your cardiologist for further evaluation.  You may need a 24 hour monitoring session ("Holter") , if the simple ECG and rhythm strip didn't show anything unusual.

These symptoms are not caused by botox, I suggest speaking to your general physician to get an evaluation for treatment.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I don't know exactly how much Botox you got, but it is very unlikely that your symptoms are because of the Botox. Especially 1 month after your injection. I agree with the others that you should be evaluated by your primary care physician. Feel better!

I am not aware of any association between Botx and cardiac arrythmias.  There is no reason for you to feel unhealthy.  

Botox is not associated with irregular heartbeats as far as I know. Best to have a careful work-up by your cardiologist.

good and bad news...first the botox is very unlikely at fault...yes there are rare reactions but it sounds like you're not having complications from your treatment...sounds like generalized anxiety disorder or panic attacks...ought to see your internist or family doctor and determine the correct diagnosis so you can begin appropriate therapy...good luck

After this amount of time from injection I doubt the BOTOX has effect now. Yes see an internetist...

cemrlv,These complaints do not at all sound like a side effect of Botox, as it is pretty much limited to local effects, and the dosing is extremely small.  Allergic response would more likely inactivate the toxin, and requires previous large volume exposure to occur, and even then it is quite uncommon.  That given, rapid heart beat is a sign often seen with anxiety, and vice versa, situations where there is an organic cause of rapid heart beat (e.g.atrial fibrillation) can cause a feeling of anxiety or impending doom.  I would suggest that if this is causing real problems that you start with your medical doctor for a good exam and evaluation of other potential emotional stresses.
