It is very long and with a big droopy tip. I'm 19 and i would like to get a nose job but i'm afraid that it will continue to grow after the surgery. Also what should i ask for to get a very natural result? I'm afraid everyone will notice that i did something to it
Answer: Rhinplasty in a teenager Hello and thank you for your question. Women typically reach skeletal maturity around 16 and men around 17. I think your age is fine for a rhinoplasty. Although an exam in person is ideal, from your photographs alone it appears that you can benefit from a tip rhinoplasty where the nasal tip cartilage is modified for a more refined, feminine, and less projected look. You may also benefit from a slight dorsal hump reduction. If your septum is deviated and you have breathing difficulty, a septoplasty may benefit you as well. The next step for you is to find the right aesthetic plastic surgeon. In your rhinoplasty consultation, be sure your surgeon addresses all your aesthetic goals and concerns specifically, and discusses the surgery details including the position and size of the incisions used (with actual photographs and not just digital animations), the risks and benefits of the procedure, recovery time, and post-operative course. Also, be sure to see plenty of before-and-after pictures in women who have a similar nose appearance to yours, and preferably at different time frames (3 weeks out, 3 months out, etc) to more accurately predict your own surgical outcome. After seeking out a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery, I think the most important component of the consultation is to establish a good connection with your plastic surgeon. It’s the connection that allows you to clearly define your desired nose outcome goals, the first step of this whole process. If you don’t feel you have a good connection with your plastic surgeon after your consultation, he/she may not be the best surgeon for you. Answer: Nose job at 19? It is generally accepted that the nose reaches adult size in most patients at 15 in females and 16-17 in males. A rhinoplasty can be performed after that time. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, evaluating your level of maturity, and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure with you and your parents would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. If you live outside of the United States, the surgeon should ideally be a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Rhinoplasty, age 19 Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. You may also benefit from a cephalic rotation of your tip to turn up your tip slightly and a conservative dorsal hump reduction. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Timing for nose surgery facial growth is completed by the age of 15 in most girls. There is no reason to wait with nose surgery after this age. You seem to be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. In person evaluation and discussion about your goals and options with a board certified plastic surgeon expert in rhinoplasty is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Too young for a nosejob? Rhinoplasty Candidate Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry, shape and would give you a natural result. You can bring the pictures that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed. When you meet with a facial plastic surgeon, he or she will consider your nose in balance with your other features and can over the cost of the procedure.
