Hi! Like many, I've been wanting to improve my side profile as it's an insecurity. I do believe I have a slightly recessed chin. I definitely think I have a steep jawline/gonial angle. As the title suggests, I am wondering which treatment option would render the best results: chin implant, filler, or submental lipo? I have had braces in the past due to a diastema of my two front teeth as well if that helps. Thank you in advance!
Answer: Which procedure, procedures would be best to naturally enhance your profile? Dear GHEMSU, Thank you for your series of pictures. Your profile is not too bad. Based on the pictures only, I believe either a small chin implant to advance it slightly or sliding genioplasty to do the same combined with some very minimal to neck liposuction. For the most accurate recommendations it is imperative that you have in person consultations several certified plastic surgeons or facial plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Answer: Definition chin and jawline Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. An easy way to approach the subject and help you understand what type of change would be most relevant to you is to use computer imaging and simulation in 3D. This allows you to get an understanding of the impact of increased chin projection, whether with an implant, filler, or genioplasty, as well as the effect of a reduction in volume under the chin. For the reduction of volume under the chin, I have the impression that liposuction would not have the most significant impact. At your body mass index, the subcutaneous fatty tissue is generally relatively thin, and the main volume under the chin is likely a combination of deeper-seated fatty tissue below the platysmal muscles, the volume of the digastric muscles, and more laterally, the volume of the submandibular glands. These elements are addressed in the anterior neck lift intervention, which does not require skin tightening in a situation like yours. It is purely a volume reduction intervention. A reduction in the girth of the neck in the upper part also has the effect of increasing chin projection as a perceptual change rather than a physical one. You can see this in before and after images of anterior neck lift interventions.

Answer: An examination would clear all shadows. In my view, you have a pleasing chin appearance on front view, and you're only minimally recessed on profile view. I do, however, see your concern. The problem may be that you might have an " anterior hyoid." That means that you may have been born with an airway that is closer to your chin than in other people. If you're very insecure about your profile appearance, perhaps a small chin implant and light neck liposuction might be a relatively straightforward path to take. It's tough to see any excess fat in your neck, however, and that is why an examination would be necessary. Permanent chin augmentation with microdroplet Silikon 1000 could also be considered (permanent nonsurgical chin augmentation), however, it is not clear if that would give you the neck appearance that you desire. Wishing you all the best moving forward. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Chin implant 100% Thank you for the photos. You don't have a lot of fat/fullness under the chin, which is what submental liposuction treats well. I recommend a chin implant for that increased projection, and it doesn't dissolve the way fillers do, requiring repeat injections.

Answer: Chin implant You appear to be an excellent candidate for a chin implant. This is done intra-orally, takes an hour to perform under general anesthesia and costs $4,000. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.
