Filler is temporary whereas an implant is more of a permanent solution. We can place a small chin implant, which is a quick surgical procedure. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, however, so for those patients, we also offer non-surgical chin augmentation with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill, and Sculptra are injected into the area to improve the overall appearance of the lower face and balance the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline, and improve the chin crease.

2. Filler Injection for Minor Augmentation: If the degree of augmentation you desire is approximately 3 millimeters or less, a filler injection is likely the better option. Fillers can provide a subtle enhancement, are minimally invasive, and offer the flexibility to adjust or reverse the results if needed.
3. Chin Implant for Greater Augmentation: If the degree of augmentation that flatters your profile more is above 3 millimeters, I would typically suggest a chin implant. Implants can provide a more significant and long-lasting enhancement, especially if more substantial augmentation is needed to achieve your desired profile balance.

Starting with 3D imaging and simulation can give you a clear idea of the potential results with each option, helping you make an informed decision about whether a filler or implant is the best choice for you.

I recommend a chin implant. The implant is wide and can fill out the entire chin. Fillers are temporary and will not give you the amount of projection that a chin implant can give you. The chin implant is placed intra-orally so there is no external scar.

Based on your photos, you don't have a terribly weak chin. I do believe that augmenting your chin would lead to a more balanced facial profile, and increased height of the lower 1/3 of your face on front view. When patients have a recessive chin, it's a bone deficiency, and a chin implant offers a bone augmentation on a permanent basis. Fillers are performed for soft tissue augmentation, don't work as well, and are only temporary. In our practice, we place chin implants under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, which takes about 30 minutes.
