Xeomin relaxes facial muscle movement similar to Botox or Dysport. It can be used very carefully to soften the vertical lines that some develop in the upper and lower lips. However, I think your question was asking whether Xeomin can be used to augment the lips. It is not a filler. If you wanted to add volume or shape to your lips you would need a product such as Juvederm. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
I am VERY reluctant to use Xeomin, Botox, or Dysport close to the mouth. Some injectors will use these products for smoker's lines and other lines around the lips, but in my opinion, it is usually not worth the risk of affecting talking, eating, or smiling. Fillers or some form of skin resurfacing (lasers or peels) are usually a much better option for addressing wrinkles around the mouth. Finally, I do not recommend shopping for an injector based on price - you will often get what you pay for. Be sure to use an expert physician injector. All the best,
For lip lines, Xeomin can work in conjunction with fillers and laser resurfacing to have the optimal results. If you have volume loss usually filler if the better choice. Xeomin must be used in small amounts around the mouth because if not injected properly or overinjected it can affect the smile.
Thank you for your question.Xeomin works in a similar manner to Botox Cosmetic and Dysport. In very small doses, it can relax some of the fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. It is not a filler and will not add volume. Xeomin around the mouth has best results when it is combined with some form of a dermal filler. To be sure, see two or more board-certified providers inyour area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate andthat it is safe for you to have these treatments.I hope this helps.
20u is plenty to soften lines above the upper lip. I usually inject 4-6u in that area with great results. Thank you for your question.
Xeomin is a type of botulinum toxin like Botox and Dysport, and works in a similar way. In very small doses, it can relax some of the fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, however it is not a filler and will not add volume. For adding volume you will need to use dermal fillers.
Xeomin is a type of botulinum toxin a, and is essentially the same in its effect to Allergan's "Botox." It does work well for lip wrinkles, but keep in mind that just like a piece of paper that has been folded the lip skin creases can be smoothed but will still show some crease on them. The botulinum toxin can help with the wrinkles, but many patients benefit further with a dermal filler (e.g., restylane, juvederm, belotero) and sometimes a chemical peel or laser resurfacing of severe lip rhytids (wrinkles). The dermal fillers help fill in the creases and enhance lip volume, which can further improve the wrinkles. Generally I don't have to give more than 12-15 units of botox to the lips themselves, but if you get some to your lip depressor muscles then you could easily get up to the 20 units. The botox has to be placed carefully in the lips to avoid lip sagging or unevenness of strength to avoid drooling etc. Going forward avoid smoking, drinking out of straws, and pursing your lips excessively to help keep your lips smooth. Best regards.
Hi, I have used Botox, Xeomin or Dysport for over 30 years and have used it to soften lines around the mouth for about 25 years. Unlike the glabella and forehead, treating peri-oral lines requires further dilution of the neurotoxin to prevent over weakening of the obicularis oris (mouth) muscle. 20 units of Xeomin should be more than enough and is more than what we typically use to treat lines around the upper and lower lips. While these treatments are readily available, it always best to be certain that you are being treated by an experienced injector.Hope this helps.
#Xeomin, like #Botox and #Dysport, is a neuromodulator and is used to diminish and soften lines that form when muscles are contracted. All 3 of these weaken the muscles they're injected into and so, although temporary, they make lines (like the frown lines between the eyes) less noticeable."Lip injections" usually refers to fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane, that are used to "plump up" the lips. Although Xeomin can be used to soften some of the wrinkles around the mouth and on the chin, I think that you mean it from providing volume. From that standpoint, #Xeomin is not the appropriate choice of product.I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of #RealSelf100
