Dr. Gabel and his staff are put simply the best in the world. I met with or had online consults with around 8 of the best hair transplant surgeons in the world over two plus years. I did extensive research and for so many hours I couldn't even guess. If I had to it would be over 20 hours reading articles and reviews and patient journeys online. Then I met with Dr. Gabel and I knew he was the surgeon I wanted. This wasn't just a simple trip however. I had to travel a great distance at great cost, navigate a pandemic, move from city to city in my country avoiding lockdowns just so I could make my flight and then drive many hours up the East Coast just to simply be there in his office. All while trying to avoid COVID and the Delta outbreak. To put it mildly this was the most logistically difficult trip of my life. And it was also worth it. That alone should be enough to convince you as to how great a surgeon he is. From the moment I walked into his office I was made to feel welcome. I was treated with kindness and patience and everyone at the Gabel Centre went above and beyond to help guide me through the best possible treatment plan. My scalp was examined thoroughly and a great number of photos were taken through each stage of the journey. I've never seen such meticulous attention to detail before. Surgery day was easy and went extremely well. Dr. Gabel and his team also regularly got me back in during the early stages for hair washes which in my opinion is critical since it can be very stressful washing your own grafts without fear of damaging them. Dr. Gabel and his team went above and beyond for me especially since I made such a difficult journey to get there. The things they did for me would not have been done anywhere else. I know other clinics would have said they didn't have the time. Dr. Gabel understood that I might not be able to return for years and years. So he made time and that act of kindness will turn a good hair transplant into an excellent one. I barely bled after surgery, scabbed very little and wasn't very red. Dr. Gabel is a master and his team of lovely technicians and reception staff are absolutely wonderful. I plan on having another surgery years down the track and I will without a doubt be making the journey all the way back to Portland to see him. I can't wait to see the final result in 12 months and am excited to finally feel like myself again. If you are looking for the best let me save you the years of research it took me - go book a consult with Dr. Gabel
Dr Gabel is the consummate professional, has an excellent bedside manner, and runs a tight ship. His office staff is well-trained and organized. Highly recommend. This investment in myself was worth every dollar spent on Dr Gabel's expertise.
Dr Gabel and his staff are amazing. Friendly, welcoming and super informed on whatever procedure you're getting. I got EmSculpt on my lower abdomen and glutes...and though there are some aesthetic results, I was mostly impressed with the therapeutic result. I have an old spinal injury and the EmSculpt worked better on support and pain reduction than doing plank for hours. For that reason Plus the family vibe at The Gabel Center...I'll totally go back for more.
Had my online consultation and traveled to Portland OR to meet Dr Gabel. He made himself available on a Saturday, a day his office is normally closed to meet me. Dr Gabel is very knowledgeable in the medical field and especially in his specialty of hair transplantation, patiently answered all my questions. BTW I had many. In addition, I want to say that he is down to earth and a very pleasant man. He even checked on me the next day to make sure I flew back ok.
Making a 2 day trip to see Dr. Gabel was the single best thing I did for my health this year. As a teenager, I experienced unexplained frontal hair loss, leading me to visit several hair restoration professionals. After researching the wide ranges of doctors and reviews, I felt the most sincere and real expertise was with Dr. Gabel. So true! Rather than try to fill a calendar slot, Dr. Gabel took time to really examine my scalp and situation - which turned out to require treatment before hair restoration could be successful. Had I gone forward with a transplant now, it would have failed. No one else took that time. I'm forever grateful to be under Dr. Gabel's care!
My experience with Dr Gabel was better than I ever could have imagined. Having had two previous procedures, I can say that the difference is night and day. Dr Gabel was generous with his time and consulted with me for an hour on a Sunday morning. During our consultation, Dr Gabel showed extreme care, patience and concern over my current situation and previous procedures. He listened to everything I had to say, answered all of my questions, and helped give me hope with honest, down-to-earth professional advice. There was no pressure to move forward with the procedure and Dr Gabel made it clear that he had my own interests top of mind. After making my decision and locking down a date with Dr Gabel, he insisted we meet a day before the procedure in order to get a better idea of what I wanted and what my expectations were. With my work schedule in mind, the Doctor was kind enough to meet me on a Sunday. I was immediately comfortable with Dr Gabel when we met as he is kind and friendly. I expressed that I was ready to go all in. 4k grafts. Whatever it took to look my best. However, upon close inspection, Dr Gabel let me know what my limitations were due to the scars from my previous surgeries. More hair put me at risk for more scarring. After explaining what my options were, Dr Gabel helped find that fine line where I could get the most hair I needed all while working on reducing the scarring from my previous procedures. All-in-all, that meant less grafts. Which in return meant less money. But that didn't stop Dr Gabel from suggesting the point of view that worked best for me. And I think that's what was so great about my experience. From the start, its was truly about what worked best for me. As far as the actual procedure the next day, I could not be happier. My communication with the Doctor and his team was great. Any time I felt pain or any discomfort, it was addressed. Dr Gabel was very hands on, controlling the room and making sure everything was perfect and precise. It was game time and the energy was so great that the time really flew by. It put me at ease knowing that I was being handled by professionals. And the work itself? I'm only in my first week but I could tell you that I see a really big difference. My last procedure left my scalp looking bloody and abused with large holes and hairs transplanted far apart. What Dr Gabel and his team did looks very dense! Clean and perfect. If not for the stitches, I could shave my head down to a 1 or 2 and you would barley notice I had any work done. My advice to you is, trying to save money on a procedure like this, as I did, will only cost you more in the long run. Go with the best out there. Go with someone honest, hands-on and incredibly gifted. Go with Dr Gabel.
A fantastic experience! I can’t say enough about Dr. Gabel and his staff. Their dedication to keeping me comfortable and informed during the entire surgical process shows the level of professionalism and care I expect from a first class medical team. There is a real artistry that goes into performing hair restoration, and Dr. Gabel’s attention to detail along with the precise manner in which he works is something I wish other medical professionals would pay attention to. If you’re interested in hair restoration and want it done right the first time, spend some time with Dr. Gabel. He truly cares and will be honest with you from the start.
I'm seven months in and my wife and friends are shocked by how great it has turned out. Dr. Gabel definitely under sold and over delivered. He and his staff are true professionals who take a lot of pride in their work.
This was almost like a spa experience! They fed me snacks, lunch, a shampoo and i got to pick my music! they all took the time to know me and dr gabel spent a lot of time with me! THEY WENT OVER AND BEYOND. I cannot say enough about how fabulous the whole crew was. They put me at ease, and I am so excited to see how great the results are! They are so amazballs! One of the easiest procedures ever! plus they have personality and are not stuffy! I would come back just to visit with them!
I can't say enough how happy I was with the entire staff and procedure itself. I feel like I was treated very well by Dr. Gabel and everyone who was part of the procedures I had. Everyone was friendly and professional and I am so satisfied with the results that I got from the work that was done. I know that spending this kind of money for a cosmetic procedure can definitely be a shock to the system but every day now now I look in the mirror and see the man that I want to be looking back at me and it makes a huge difference in my happiness so I think it was worth every penny. I highly recommend Dr. Gabel and think if you are serious about hair replacement this is the place to go.
It is imperative to have an eyebrow transplant with an experienced hair restoration surgeon because the direction and angle must be perfect at the beginning. Unfortunately, your eyebrow hair direction is permanent and I understand why you are not happy. The hair will also grow at the same rate as scalp hair and will need to be trimmed often. To correct this, you may need to have the aberrant hairs removed or electrolysis performed.
It is normal for the newly transplanted hairs to fall out at 5 weeks. Even though you have seborrheic dermatitis, this will have no effect on the transplanted hairs.
The hair from the back of your head are DHT insensitive therefore you can have a scalp to beard transplant without worrying about the effect of DHT on the transplanted hairs into the beard.
There has been no reported cases of depression following PRP that I am aware of. PRP procedures do not inject any medications that would cause any physiological changes associated with depression.
When you start to see some movement of the muscles, that is a good time to receive your next Botox injection. This is called "disuse atrophy." When you paralyze the muscles, the shrink in size. When the Botox wears off, the muscles start to move again, and will enlarge. That is the best time to reinject with the Botox to keep the muscles small and hopefully you will need less Botox moving forward.
