I attempted to take my first shower this morning and almost passed out. My husband got in the shower with me. I panicked, started sweating, shaking and got very pale. I had to get out before I blacked out. What went wrong? Any tips? How often should I shower after after a MM? I got a good look for the first time. This is 5 days PO- here is a picture.

Answer: Panic attack.... Thanks for this question. Congratulations on your recent mommy makeover surgery. You had a vaso-vagal episode. These occur commonly - it's also known as a fainting spell and you seemed to have all the symptoms. You should inform your plastic surgeon, but most likely you're dehydrated from the surgery and it was too much to do too fast. Next time, consider getting out of your garments for at least 30 minutes before entering the shower and hydrate well. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Answer: Panic attack after MMO Thank you for sharing your question and photograph and I am sorry to hear of your shower issues. This is not uncommon following any large procedure and the typical precautions should include having a chair/bench in your shower so as to protect you from falling and using very lukewarm temperature water. What likely occurs is loss of blood pressure control from a combination of anesthesia, pain medication, increased water temperature, and standing upright after a long period of time laying down. Be sure to have assistance but this will get better with time.
