I will be getting a tummy tuck w/ lipo 360 and breast lift/augmentation/bbl in Dallas. I hired an aftercare nurse for day 2 through 4 of recovery since I will be alone in my hotel for the first 5 days? How often should I have I her check on me each day? I'm staying overnight the day of sx and will be discharged the next day. I've stockpiled my supplies/food and I'm staying at a hotel that does room service/will deliver your groceries if needed.
Answer: Assistance after surgery You will need full time care for at least the first three days after surgery. You will need help with positioning, going to the restroom, dressing changes, drain care, and eating. You can reassess how you are doing after day 3 to determine how frequent care will be needed after that. Your surgeon may be able to provide guidance with this as well.

Answer: How many times a day will I need my hired aftercare nurse to check on during my recovery from my TT/BA/BL/Lipo360/BBL? Recovering from this combination surgery is a challenging experience; but you have planned the recovery with great detail. We coordinate with aftercare nurses to stay with our out-of-town patients beginning with pick up at discharge to review all post-operative instructions with the surgery staff and transport to the hotel. Our nurses "play it by ear" so to speak in staying with the patient and the patient only has to phone the nurse for immediate assistance. Some patients need very little help; others require more assistance depending upon their pain level, mobility, and self-confidence. Try morning, noon, and evening check-ins on day two and increase their frequency if necessary. My office also follows up daily with the patient and nurse.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Mommy Makeover Recovery Miss Versatile. You are having a lot of surgery and will need full time help definitely day 2 and a fair amount of help day 3. After that, she should check in on you at least 4 times a day. Recovery varies, so ask your nurse to be available if your recovery requires more attention. Best of luck!

Answer: How many times a day will I need my hired aftercare nurse to check on during my recovery from my TT/BA/BL/Lipo360/BBL? This is a lot of surgery to have at one time. There are so many concerns with your situation. 1) How are you planning on positioning post op - make sure you talk with your doctor and have a plan for pressure points etc. If they tell you to re-position frequently make sure you think you can do this on your own. If you can't you may need around the clock care for a few days as your pain levels will be crazy high if you are relying on just oral pain medication. Are you doing Exparel or any other modality for pain control post op? 2) You should be walking for ~10 minutes ~5x per day even on POD#1 to avoid getting a blood clot. Are you going to be able to do this at the hotel with no help? Will you have an SCD machine at the hotel? That may help you not have to walk as much. 3) Is the nurse driving you to the hotel? You will not be able to drive for as long as you are in too much pain to have a normal reaction time and also while taking narcotics. My patients who just get a BBL usually need ~10 days no driving. How are you getting back to San Antonio? You may want to just have her stay with you around the clock care for several days.
