Bellafill is a permanent filler that is best used in deep skin areas rather than thin neck creases. Belotero or restylane silk may be more appropriate in the neck creases.
I have used many fillers on the neck lines, I would avoid bellafill there as it can cause lumps. Its also not a type of filler than can be "thinned" out and it is designed for deeper injections. You could go with something like voluma, although most would use a thinner filler like restylane silk or belotero. I suggest a formal consultation with an expert in neck rejuvenation. Best, Dr. Emer.
Bellafill could potentially be used on the neck but it is only FDA approved for use on the face. Using it on the neck would be considered an off-label use of the product. In my experience, I have never had the need to use Bellafill on the neck. You would need to be evaluated to determine if you might be a good candidate for the treatment.
Bellafill® has just been approved by the FDA for treatment of acne scars. This treatment requires either deep dermal or immediate sub-dermal placement of the Bellafill® to get the best results along with subcision of the tethering scar bands. However, if have great difficulty introducing the Bellafill, because it is thick and viscous, into these tethering lines, even with the 1cc "botox" syringe that lacks the rubber that can also add drag and affect the even injection. We have developed an injector that is adapted from other dermal and dental uses, that lets us introduce repeatable small aliquots of filler down to 1/10 of 1/10 of a cc. That means for one cc of Bellafill® we can make 100 little droplets under pressure. This is important, because in the neck, you can easily get overfill of the tethered lines and end up with a permanent bulge, rather than a flat surface. Also, sometimes I dilute the Bellafill® with the test dose syringe, making it 1/3 less permanent and will allow for a little shrinkage with time. This dilution is also very good for very small and thin lines like around the eye's "crows feet". Just as the acne scars are helped with subcision before treatment, I like to use the #21 or a #25, depending on the amount of tethering to open up the treatment area before injection. This always creates a little more bleeding just at the injection site, that can take 3-5 days to settle down. My beautician who I treated last week, used a decorative scars so she would go back to work in two days. That is harder to pull off in the summer, but if you are paying the expense of Bellafill®, I believe that the subcision is very important.Dr. William SeareClinique SculptureCarlsbad, Ca
Bellafill can be used in many places where there is loss ofvolume. In the neck, the problem isusually skin creases which are due to skin laxity rather than loss of volume. Like the creases at your elbow, adding morevolume would not be a good idea. However,if the problem is due to a loss of tissue, like after a cancer removal, then Ihave found Bellafill to be extremely effective.I have added a link to some more information on Bellafill anda video on filler safety issues. I hope that helps.Best regards.
Bellafill is a filler that stimulates you to produce your own tissue. Over time it essentially becomes all of your own tissue and there is not really any filler left except a small amout of the plastic beads or PMMA particles which are acting as the biostimulant. The 5 year studies...
This will not be a popular post, but somebody has to tell patients their experience treating patients with permanent fillers.I was not a fan of ArteColl or ArteFill, and am not a fan of BellaFill, an identical product with a different name. Google ArteFill complications to see the...
Bellafill, once it is injected, can be molded for a short time after it is injected, but usually after an hour there is no more movement of the product that can occur. I will have patients massage an area if they look they are getting some bruising so the massage you did should not in any way...
