What's the difference in the chemical makeup of the above products? Can either be used under the eyes as well? What is the average cost for 2-3 syringes? What's the difference between Restylane Lyft and Restylane Refyne and Defyne?
Answer: The chemical composition of these products is hyaluronic acid filler. Differences in cross linking and combinations of the molecular lengths of the sugar gels in the fillers account for the differences in products. Restylane Lyft is a new name for an old filler called Perlane. Perlane is a fantastic product that is challenging for injectors to manipulate but holds up very well over time. It is typically used in areas where there is already fat which helps hide any lumps or bumps. The Refine and Defyne are more smooth type fillers with a more springy character. While these products are appealing to injectors who have a tendency to leave their patients with lumps and bumps (they tend to smooth themselves). These newer fillers, in my opinion, do not hold up like Restylane and Lyft. There are intended to encourage doctors to stock more product in the office and they complete with alternative high G prime fillers. I do not see a big advantage to these products. I do not recommend the so-called smooth fillers in my practice. These products tend to drift after placement in the face. I want products that hold where they are placed to get very precise treatment results. That also makes them more challenging to place because the injector has to control the all the details of the service rather than depending on the characteristics of the filler to "fix" itself. Hope that information helps.

Answer: Restylane Refyne, Defyne, and Lyft: Which is best for tear troughs? Restylane Refyne and Defyne have a different cross linking technology that provides for more natural facial movement in key areas like the nasolabial folds. They can also be used in other areas of the face - Defyne is good for adding volume to areas like the cheekbones and Refyne is smooth enough to use in delicate areas like the tear troughs. However, this is not your only option for under the eyes. I encourage you to find a very experienced and qualified injector who has expertise treating this area. In my office, we typically use a blunt-tipped cannula here because it tends to produce a better result with fewer side effects. With the right injector, you will get a good result no matter which filler is selected for the treatment.

Answer: Restylane Defyne/ Lyft/ Silk Fillers have different thickness to them and as a result in some areas cause more swelling. Restylane Silk and Refyne are great for thin areas like tear troughs or smokers lines. Defyne and Lyft are excellent volumizers for lips, cheeks and nasolabial folds, there is much less swelling in these areas and the patient gets great results. We discount down when buying multiple syringes because of cost. Do your homework and your results and pocketbook will come out okay. Hope this is helpful. JB

Answer: Restylane Refyne and Defyne vs Restylane Lifte There are significant differences between Restylane Lyft vs Defyne/Refyne. First of all, the structure in Restylane Lift is stiffer and utilizes NASHA technology. There products tend not to move with the face and are great for structural areas. Defyne/Refyne utilize XpressHAn Technology which are much more flexible. This is great for patients who don't want a stiff appearance. The duration of these products will depend on location and intended effect.

Answer: What's the difference between Restylane Lyft and Restylane Refyne and Defyne? There's lots of differences. Lyft has larger particles and is great at lifting - hence the name. I love Lyft for cheek lifts - excellent! The Refyne and Defyne are more pliable and very mobile. Great for areas that move a lot like the mouth and eyes. Different type of filler, altogether. all can be used in the under eyes. Restylane is still the number #1 filler for under eyes, but Refyne seems really good too.
