I am almost 3 weeks out from mastopexy with implants. My seurgon said that I should take my steri strips off because it had been two weeks. I took them off in the shower and i believe it bled under the top layer of skin. It did not split the incions themselves, just the skin on top of my areola. I am wondering if this will make my scarring horrible or significantly worse? Any tips ??

Answer: Steri-strips.... Steri-strips do support wound healing, but by 3 weeks most healthy individuals have their basic collagen levels almost back to normal. Your photos demonstrate good healing. If you're worried about something that is not in the photos then contact your plastic surgeon fro an examination. Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

I expect it probably stung a little when you removed those steri strips and got some bonus skin off into the bargain, but it doesn’t look like you have anything to worry about with regards to long-term results. At your stage of post-op recovery, it’s normal for things to look a little less than ideal, but all should sort itself out over time. Definitely schedule a follow-up visit with your plastic surgeon if you have any concerns.
