I am planning to get rhinoplasty and buccal fat removal later this year, however I have been told by surgeons that I also have a weak chin and would benefit from a chin implant as well. The thing is I'm reluctant to get any kind of implant. But as I have an overbite, I was thinking that if this was corrected, would it also give me a stronger chin and more defined jawline? I don't want to go overboard with cosmetic surgery procedures.
Answer: Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation with Injectable Fillers -- Radiesse, Sculptra, Surgical Implants, See an Expert "A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease. Implants are still a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for a permanent enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert; our practice is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer"

Answer: Treatment options for you? Without an exam your question cannot be answered. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision: Candidates for Chin Augmentation - Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. If you are one of these patients, then you are a likely candidate for chin augmentation #weakchin #chinimplant

Answer: Not much so you do have a weak chin but your overbite doesn't seem excessive. You have a prominent nasal spine and a strong nose which are the most dominant features of your profile. You can address these by reducing your nose profile and weakening the nasal spine or augmenting your chin, or perhaps, in my opinion, a combination of the two. Orthodontic work is not going to significantly change these proportions in my opinion. Hope that helps, Adam Goodwin

Answer: Verbite contributing to my weak chin and double chin? Would getting invisalign give me a more defined chin/jaw? Hi, I have performed many chin augmentations, using derma fillers or silastic chin implants for over 30 years. From the photos, your chin is very weak. This is a lack of forward bone of the chin and isn't associated with your occlusion or how your teeth fit together called the "bite". Invisalign may provide an improved bite but there's no mechanism that any type o f braces would be able to cause your chin bone to grow forward. That would have to be achieved using a chin augmentation. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin. Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. I place silastic chin implants, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery. Hope this helps.
