Lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning - Risks?
I am in my 40s. I have moderate under-eye bags along the entire orbital rim, extending from the inner corner of the eye to the lateral area. I also have deep tear troughs, and I was told that I may be a good candidate for fat repositioning. My questions to the doctors are: 1. Do you reposition all 3 fat compartments, or only the medial and central fat pads? The doctor that I consulted with said that the lateral fat should never be repositioned because it may increase the risk of complications such as chronic inflammation. Is this true in your experience? If the lateral pad is not repositioned, wouldn’t this create a hallow area? 2. If the procedure is performed by a skilled oculoplastic surgeon, is there a risk that the repositioned fat could eventually migrate or return to its original position? If so, how common is this, and what factors might contribute to recurrence? 3. Any other common risks associated with fat repositioning?
