It appears, based on these photos, that small chin augmentation with implant or a sliding genioplasty would benefit you. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in chin augmentation and 3D simulation would help. Good luck.
You are a candidate for a genioplasty. Your chin is a bit short and recessed. By moving it forward and down, it would bring balance to your profile while elongating your jawline. This would create a more "v" shape in your face while tightening the skin around your jawline and under the chin. We offer in-person or virtual consultations if you would like to discuss options further!
Yes, based on your photos you are a good candidate for a genioplasty. You have a recessive chin that is also a little short so I wouldn't worry about being too long. People who have a deep mentolabial fold can usually improve their facial balance with both horizontal movement and vertical movement. A CT scan would allow for a determination of your current vertical height. We perform the genioplasty procedure in the office with intravenous sedation and patients can return to work within 3-5 days. Chewing and eating is not affected and patients resume a normal diet within a few days. Out of town patients are allowed to return home the next day.
You are a candidate for a genioplasty if your teeth are significantly out of alignment. A genioplasty is performed in a hospital, setting under general anesthesia with an overnight stay at the hospital, and is much more invasive. If you're looking for a simple cosmetic augmentation to your chin, then consider placement of a chin implant which can be performed undeer local anesthesia, which takes about a half an hour as an outpatient procedure.
I suggest consulting with oral surgeons or plastic surgeons who have proper craniofacial surgery background in order to get a quality assessment and better understanding of your underlying facial bone structure. Regardless of what procedure you choose you should get a quality assessment and have a good understanding of all treatment options regarding craniofacial surgery. Best,Mats Hagstrom, MD
