To minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation after a chemical peel I recommend the use of hydroquinone cream twice daily for about 4 weeks, stopping about 5 days before the peel and restarting about 10 days after to continue for another 4 weeks. This combined with diligent use of sunscreen is the best prevention. I also recommend the use of Glisodin skin nutrients, skin brightening formula. This is an oral nutraceutical which is designed to reduce hyperpigmentation of the skin. For you, you could try the combination of hydroquinone and GliSODin to try and reduce the pigmentation. I would suggest you discuss this with your clinician to confirm their agreement and secure a prescription.
It is best to discuss this with the doctor who performed the peel. He/she knows what strength was used ,time applied, etc. This can be addressed with topical prescription cream as well as laser for uneven coor such as q switched laser.
Hello Naod,With any superficial or medium depth peel you are at risk for hyperpigmentation (darker skin) after the inflammation, called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. There are treatments available to help improve this. The first step is to get rid of the cause of the inflammation. I'd recommend you follow up with your physician to evaluate and treat your rash. Once that is cleared up you can start on a treatment for the darkened skin.I hope this helps and good luck.
It sounds like you are experiencing what is called post-Inflammatory hyperpigmentation which can occur in individuals after their skin has become inflamed, such as from a rash, acne lesions, post peel, lasers etc. I would recommend you make an appointment with a board certified dermatologist to examine your rash and determine its cause and treatment. The first priority would be to clear the rash up and then your dermatologist can also recommend treatment for the post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation you are experiencing.
